Review: UltraFire UF-T90 4 x Cree XM-L U2 Aurabuy (outside beamshots added)

I received this light last week sometime from Aurabuy as one of their giveaways here on the greatest flashlight site in the universe BLF!! It arrived packed well with a ton of bubble wrap and inside it’s nice little box. (I do mean little) When I got to the box under all that bubble wrap I thought it must be the wrong light. The box itself is just a hair over 2 1/4 inches deep. 60mm for the rest of the world. Ok on to the rest of the review

I would say that these are all right on including the lumens. Others sites have it listed as much higher but I think it’s almost exactly correct.

THE GOOD

The adjustable dimming is very nice, it moves from dim to bright quickly but not so quick that you can’t find the level you are looking for.

The beam, It’s floody it doesn’t try to be a thrower it’s just a very nice bright flood.

Size, this light is surprisingly small.

The Handle, It’s removeable, comfortable and well balanced. I have three handle lights and this one is the best handle of the bunch.

Finish and threading all all very nice, it’s a solid well built light. Not that I’m going to do it but it feels like I could drop it and it would be fine.

The weight, it’s not heavy but not light great for walking with.

The box. not something I would normally add but it’s small size with really nice almost rubber insert make it useable. If I was taking this camping or in a backpack/luggage I would take the box.

4x18650 in parallel, safe with good run time.

THE BAD

Price, at $83.99 it’s a little bit high. Other sites are selling it for less. Perhaps they can be talked into price matching.

The Attack Bezels, all four of them. The light would look nicer without them and they are a little sharp on an otherwise smooth light.

More than once I have accidently hit the hidden strobe feature and had trouble getting back into the ramping mode. You kind of have to do this quick double click thing.

THE AVERAGE

Switch position might be a problem for some. Not for me but my wife with her long nails has to use two hands to use the switch. Better position than the SP03 not as nice as the Terminator, but then you wouldn’t be able to remove the handle.

Overall lumens could be a little higher if it had the newer emitters but U2 is respectable and it’s still a very bright light. The tint on the U2’s is cool.

Gets moderately warm on long walks but not so much that it affects lumen output.

CONCLUSION

4 stars

It was delivered fast and was packed well. Kudos to their shipping department. Each light I have gotten from them has been well wrapped and arrived without a ding. It’s a little overpriced and could be a little bit brighter if it had the second generation XML’s but still really nice. The ramping works well once you get used to it. It’s a nice size light and very comfortable to carry on long walks. The finish seems almost soft but yet this is a sturdy light.

Is this a buy? Well if they work with you on price and you are looking for a nice floody light that has a ramping mode and is comfortable to walk with, then yes. If all you are looking for is total lumen output then no.

Terminator- UF-T90- SRK

The first picture in each set is the UF-T90 and the second is the Terminator U3

Thanks 18sixfifty for the review. Its one spikey looking light.

You’re welcome and yep it is one spikey light. What surprised me the most was how small it is. I thought it would be closer to the size of the terminator.

Interesting!
What’s the output, flood and throw like compared to the SRK?

On a ceiling bounce lumens seems about equal with the SRK, it’s more floody than the SRK. It has almost no hotspot at all. It’s just a very wide bright beam. It is brighter in the center than the edges but it’s a gradual thing not a defined hotspot. I wouldn’t buy this as a lumen monster because it isn’t. But it does have a very nice beam, it’s easy to carry and the ramping mode is cool. Infinitely adjustable is nice but has it’s quirks too. This one is nice because it’s fairly fast although I wish it would stop at full bright and full dim instead of having to guess. I have a crelant that stops only on full bright but it ramps slowly and it seems to take way too long for me. This one is better, you can guess full bright easy enough.

Thanks for the informative reply.
I would attribute the lack of throw to the seemingly shallow reflectors and I would say the only reason one would buy this over an SRK is if you need a handle. But at $84 you may as well get something like the Apex 5*xml.

thanks for the review. its a pretty neat looking light, but just way overpriced, id just get a warrior instead.

OK, now, bring in the rest of the review and pics, want to see more

AuraBuy is now up to $90 but FastTech lists it for $69 currently.

As I also have two Terminators including a new T70, a SupFire L1 and Solarstorm SP03 handled lights I obviously have a weakness for lights with handles. I like the continuous variable output but apparently it does not have a memory function like the Solarstorm Warrior does. That IMO makes the variable output of much less value.

Have you seen this little quad xml2 w/ handle?
Even cheaper, xml2, great mod potential, and better handle/switch design vs uf-t90 (imo).
