Trustfire T2 XP-G R5 5-mode 1*18650 with side clicky

Saw it on manafont today: Trustfire T2 XP-G R5 5-mode 1*18650 with side clicky

Looks like a side clicky and a tripod mount at the end. Opinions?

Nice looking light! I like the side-switch, as I have no need for a "tactical" light and the side swith is much more convenient to use.

I wonder if it is a real clicky or a electronic one, with parasitic drain. Hmm, might have to ask Jim.

Whoa, I went to order that light and got side-tracked by this

I know that is not a budget light but $110 is still a vey good price for it. Here I was all set to get a Tk35, then manafont got the the Tk41

I ended up ordering the light in the OP, but the Tk41 keeps calling my name. Hard to justify $100 for a flashlight, but I love the style and the beam on it. I need to hit a bonus for some extra money...

This new Ultrafire host also turned up on the Manafont LED homepage today. I haven't seen it before that I can recall. $9.10

Interesting design. Wish it had a XML couple with a decent low mode.

it's just a host so you can put whatever P60 drop-in you like in it!

It is not a new design, i have one with a R2 dropin. It was the first 18650 flashlight i bought at DX.

There is an XM-L version, but it will need some work to get a better heat transfer if you want to use it on high for more then a few minutes. http://www.dealextreme.com/p/ultrafire-c1-xm-lt6-5-mode-510-lumen-memory-white-led-flashlight-with-clip-strap-1-18650-55237

Sky Ray G5 Cree XP-E R5 (but looks like XP-G on the pics) 1* 18650 5 mode for $17.45

Looks a bit like a upscaled P31 for use with 18650 batteries.

I just got the Trustfire T2 mentioned in the OP today. I have to tell you, this is one of the best looking lights in my collection.

The anodized aluminun center is a medium-to-dark gray, anjd the stainless steel end pieces are polished to a very bright finish, almost looks like chrome. The light has a nice heft to it, and considering the complicated curves between the body and the two end pieces, it has very good fit and attention to the cosmetic details. Tailcap has a double "O" ring on it, and it has a tripod thread on the tailcap as well.

In regard to parasitic drain, I could not get my DMM to register anything other then 0.00 at the tailcap unless I clicked the switch on. Maybe I'm checking it incorrectly, someone let me know if there is a proper way to measure parasitic drain. I got 1.75A on High, .55 on Mid, and .12 on LO; those readings were with a HiMax 2600 that has been sitting in the drawer for 3 weeks since being charged. Reflector is smooth, and is not a P60 compatible one; it measures 23mm.

I'll get some photos of this up tonight, it really is an attractive flashlight. The side clicky is a nice change from the normal rear clicky, I wish more lights were like that.

Alrighty, I took a couple of photos while I am waiting for the oil to drain from my car.

Thanks for your first impressions. Sounds like a nice light. What is that thingy at the end of the tailcap? A tripod mount?

Yes, it is a tripod mount. Never used one before, but could be handy if you needed rock-solid light on a subject.

Here are a couple more images in comparison to the familiar Solarforce L2 and L2i. I am extremely happy with the fit and finish of the T2, in my mind it does not feel like a budget light at all. Seams are tight, no imperfections in the anodizing or polishing, and the side clilcky works perfect. Very cool light for the money.

Only downside is that it is a 5-mode light. The strobe mode is slower than many lights, and you can cycle through the modes easily with a soft touch of the side clicky.

It sounds like it has an electronic switch... what about accidental activation in a pocket... how much force is needed to activate the switch? Could you do me a favour and measure the section of the middle tube across the 2 flat surfaces? I wanna know, if it fits in my bike light holder, thanks.

It takes quite a bit of pressure to activate the side switch, I don't think you could to it by accident unless it was right against the seam of you pocket and you bent over and really put the squeeze on it. Plus it is recessed from the head and tail based on how the body is built.

The center body of the light is 21.52mm, but beware it is square, not round. Well, sort of; you might be able to get a grip on the rolled edges with your mount. The center-body measurement from one rolled edge to the opposite one is 25.05, and 26.6mm at the front one inch (rolled edge to rolled edge) of the body where it meets the headpiece. Like I said above, the build of this light is fairly complicated, and they did a good job getting it finished correctly.

Here is a better photo to give you an idea how complicated the body lines are and the edges I was talking about

It also tailstands nicely. I haven't checked the beam at night yet, but so far I would give this light a 5.

With a smaller reflector than a P60 and with an XP-G in place, it will probably get a 3.5 on beam/brightness. Everything else is looking pretty good.

LOL, gonna update that beam rating to a 4.0 Very nice hotspot still decent throw, and VERY bright spill as well. No complaints.

Use the milliamp or microamp setting.

Never really thought about it before, but one could glue a magnet on a bolt for a removable useful accessory. Assuming it's 1/4-20 like the Nitecore EZ series.

Might be a good way to add a clip with this design too.

Hoping you get some beam shots including a few side-by-side beam comparisons with the L2 or L2i. I really like the look of this light but am concerned about the small reflector compared to the other P60 lights. I can't help but wonder how nice this light would be with an XM-L in it....

I can tell you that with the smaller reflector than a standard P60-sized one, you get a bigger hotspot than a P60. It is pretty well-defined, but larger in size.

For many situations, that is pretty nice to have. The light has more "class" than other lights in my collection, it is a nice conversation piece. Funny that two of my favorite lights turned out to be Trustfires, this one and the Z1.

I'll have to take things apart and see if it takes a standard pill. The pill screws into the tube on this light.

Good to know. I agree, it sure is one classy looking light. I will have to add this to my “get” list.

That body shape is a clone of the very early (Very collectable, very valuable if in good condition) Surefires. Wonder if it is otherwise compatible with Surefire bits?
