Review: Tank007 M10 - Donated by Tmart

Tmart sent me a Tank007 M10 for review. This is the second light I received. The first one had issues (a broken lens), so Tmart sent me a second one.

Pros: Overall size and weight are great for a daily carry light. Fit & finish is good.

Cons: Single mode on/off will not appeal to many. The XR-E led is outdated. Since I have two of these, I find that the assembly of the light leaves something to be desired. I don't think enough care is being used, to make sure the lights are assembled properly.

I am really liking the small form factor of the 16340 lights. They are light, but yet they are big enough around for me to be able to handle them and feel like there's something there.

The overall fit and finish is good. There's enough knurling to be able to grip the head for twisting and the knurl on the body helps to hold the body from turning.

m3

The lanyard is just a standard one. The kind I would not trust to hold up long.

m4

Remember I said this was the second light. The first one had a broken lens and other issues. Here we go again. First thing out of the package and the O ring is sticking out the front. I really think Tank needs to do some better assembly operations, or maybe have someone check them out before shipping.

m5

Body threads are ok. Threads for the head were lubed and the others were dry.

m6

The spring inside the body is attached to some kind of an insert. It's probably pressed in and can't be easily removed.

m7

The magnet in the tail cap is very strong and the light stays in position when it is attached to a vertical metal surface. The magnet is so strong that it's hard to get the battery out. You have to sort of forcibly shake it out.

m8

The spring inside the body.

The light has a driver, so if it's regulated, why does it not have modes? It's a 15mm or 16mm driver and the whole pill can be taken out. There are two holes in the outer brass ring for that.

m91

There's the threaded pill and led.

m92

Here's the reflector. It's metal and it has a good plating on it, but there was some dust and dirt in there.

m93

The glass lens is coated, but it has a lot of reflection, so I think the coatings are fairly poor.

I got a reading of 1.1 amps on this light.

Well, you could label it as a thrower, since it has the XR-E in it, but it does not throw very far and it has almost no spill, so I don't know what to label it as, except as just a light. I'm not impressed. It needs a mod to get something better out of it and that's just what I will do.

I want to thank Tmart for sending me this light. Actually, I want to thank them twice, since I now have two of these to mod and give away.
