I bet non-flashlight people see all these LEDs and think they are those crappy 5mm multi-emitter lights.

Gotta love the description.  Do they even bother to read what they post?

Features

* Super bright: 17200 lumens

then four lines down....

Specifications

* Lumens: 13000 Lumens

Anyone care to do the maths on current draw required to achieve this?  Supposedly runs on 2*18560 or 4*18650 (or 26650s). All in series in long "pipe" format.  Driving 15*CREE-T6 LEDs

It doesn’t help that the 5mm lights are rated in watts or cd, and the XM-L lights are rated in chinese lumens.

And the bare led keychain lights are rated in mcd, MILLIcandela. 20cd sounds pretty weak, so they make it 20,000mcd to make it look better, because to noobs higher numbers are better!

This comparison just made my day! Hahahaha! And it’s only 5:50 in the morning!

With only 4 batteries surely the driver could only pushing minimal current to the emitters. I bet it’s really floody though.

It would be worth it just to by it for the extra T6 emitters and then have a good host for a DX SST-90 reflector.

If this makes you uncomfortable, there could be a good reason

It’s called trypophobia and it is the fear of clustered holes.

(It bothers me a little)

You can’t get 17,200 lumens out of 15 XML T6’s. But if you could you would need over 220 watts. With four batteries it would be 55 watts per battery, or 13 amps per battery. Double that for 2S. Yeah, like that’s gonna happen…

thank you for enlightening me about trypophobia! :Sp hum, well… time to see my therapist again, I guess. Oh, wait, I’ve never consulted a shrink before! But, as a matter of fact, holes are quite scary. Remember, they dragged Saddam Hussein out of one. And coffins are being lowered into holes in the ground, as well… I smell a conspiracy…

where was we, again? Oh yes, multi-emitter torches. Now that soothes a stressed soul, doesn’t it? Yet, the light pictured in the link is a tad too expensive for my taste – I guess I’ll stick to my SRK, for now.

*edit:

I knew I would have to come up with some music which would be fitting – and I think I have. Here’s what Eric Burdon’s has to say about holes:

luv the trypophobia vid. This flashlight better than the AK90 or the TR X100? How about vs. the Ultrafire 15T6?

It needs to be modded to get 4 amps to each emitter. and cut off the battery tube to stick a car-battery box on the end to provide the 60 amps of power needed, then add some kind of nuclear cooling for the head. Silly

Wow it’s getting late I guess. :bigsmile:

I thought you were serious at the 4 amps and I just thought “HOW?!” then I read the car battery and busted up laughing. Scared my cat half to death.

We need to get this thing hooked up to a marine deep cycle for better run-time. You’ll even get a low-intensity mild workout when you use it. 0:)

I’ll pass and wait for the 15Txml2 version of the SkyRay Cung version with 4×26650 tube with extensions. There’s already in the works for 18 xml and 21 one already.
