In rdfronty's thread he stated that he got 1795 lumens @ startup and 1740 lumens @ 30 seconds. The lowest he measured was 510K lux (1,428 meters of throw or 594 ft shy from throwing a full mile) and as high as 524K lux. He also says that Wayne's TN31 mods easily beat the TN31mb. He compared it to his TN31MB which sports a de-domed XP-G2 and it had a reading of 434K lux. All for a much lower price and twice the lumens to boot!
After receiving a K40 from Wayne, I find that I like the slightly smaller form factor that the K40 has over the longer throw that the TN31 has. I have swapped the K40's and TN31's tailcap, as I prefer the TN31's tailcap shape to the K40's. The switches themselves were not swapped, only the tailcap shell. The anodizing is identical on both hosts so no need to worry about an anodizing mismatch here. Other than the tailcap swap, this host is exactly as received from Wayne.
This TN31 is in like new condition with no dings or scratches. There's a little dust and maybe a finger print or two but that's it. It has been fully modded by Wayne to include the following: XML2 6500K dedomed (tint appears to be 4500K-5000K to my eyes), driven to 6.5 amps (~1900 LED lumens), thick direct copper bonding, premium thermal compound, larger LED wires, all current connections touched up, battery carrier tweaked, and tuned for the most intense hot spot focus.
This TN31 has been admired indoors on a handful of occasions, taken outdoors when I first received it, and also taken outdoors the night I received the K40 to compare the two. It is in the same flawless condition as received from Wayne. This is a handpicked modded TN31 from the man himself and it shows. The mode selector ring is very smooth (smoother than my particular K40 FWIW) as is the beam.

This is a steal of a deal for what your getting for the money. It will make all your other lights seem like toys when it comes to throw more than likely. These things are putting out 500K. How many lights do you have that will come close to that? The one I have will out throw my huge Power On Board 35watt HID spotlight that weighs like 9lbs. This is the thrower of all throwers for the money.
