Does anyone have pictures or links to pictures showing the differences between the above mentioned options Simon has available? Thanks!
The only options are the driver and the LED. If you’re not familiar with the LED model #‘s… basically the number/letter combo after the dash is the tint, for example “1a.” The lower the number the cooler the tint. The higher the number the warmer the tint. 1a leans toward blueish, and 7a is more like an incandescent light. 4C is probably the most neutral of the tints.
The driver is simple too. The number/* combo refers to the amount of chips on the driver. The higher that number the more current the light pushes. If you want lower outputs/better battery life stick with a lower number. If you want a hand burner *8 is a good choice. I think the *8 gives you a 2.8 amp current on high mode. These drivers are all 2 group drivers. The groups are selectable by a timed button press. One group is 3 modes H-M-L, and the other is a 5 mode with H-M-L plus 2 blinkies. These drivers all have mode memory too.
Count me in, please. Or, do we have to wait for the link?
Simon will basically add a link in at a random time within the next few days… it could be today or tomorrow or the next day… then the 1st 30 people to buy via the link (he puts in the 1st post) will get the light at that price. After that, you have to pay regular price. My advice? Subscribe and check back often.
WOW, again?
Hmm looks like those nice heat sink might be able to handle the eight 7135s…
Think I will go with pocket cannon setup (XML2 T6-4C 7135*8 SMO) this time.

Please count me in too! I have an s6 I absolutely love, for five dollars there’s no way I wouldn’t buy another convoy. This one looks like it’ll handle MOARPOWAH too
Because the hotspot is 'fuzzy', instead of a sharply defined round spot, outside of which the brightness drops off. So it makes the light only a tiny bit better in one scenario and a lot worse at another. They don't need smooth reflectors to throw as well as a P60: http://budgetlightforum.com/node/23230?page=1#comment-445402
The smooth reflector does very little to improve throw, but makes the light much less nice to use at short range.
Why does it makes it less nice to use at short range?
And now for another opinion (with much respect to Comfy)…I changed to a smooth reflector in my S5 from an OP and it really helped in my case. This light is used as a bike helmet light and it focused the beam enough to help the throw a good bit and make the light much more usable for me. Didn’t see a big hit in close work, but I don’t really do that with this light. YMMV
You don’t. There’ll be a post in the thread from simon (convoy flashlights) saying the OP has a link. It could be any time within the next few days. Basically check this thread everytime it’s updated.

I think I am in on this one.

The only way to do a great work is to love what you do.

Does this S8 use the same deep reflector as the other models?
Any of these lights available in bulk as bare hosts?
Thank you for the explanation. Might go for 4C
Nice!!
I like that the fins incorporate anti-rolling feature. I already have the S5 to look forward to though.
for $5 i’ll take this light
i’m in J)
is this light available with SMO reflector?
Please count me in too! I have an s6 I absolutely love, for five dollars there’s no way I wouldn’t buy another convoy. This one looks like it’ll handle MOAR POWAH too
I definitely want one. Many in fact. Count me in.
I would also prefer a smooth reflector.
The smooth reflector does very little to improve throw, but makes the light much less nice to use at short range.
In for one!
Why does it makes it less nice to use at short range?
There’s a lot of artifacts in the beam profile, such as rings and flowers you don’t want to see.
The OP reflector smoothens them out into a nice creamy beam of light.
