Just got my XTAR BK10 in from SB-Flashlights. Man, they were really fast getting it to me. Made the mistake of ordering it over the Labor Day weekend and they still got it to me in less than 5 days. Talked with Jason at SBF, and he gave me really good advice.
Now on to the very brief review (this is my first one, so I just thought I would just talk about how I am using the light). I ordered the BK10 with blue bezel, and I have to say, it is one really good looking flashlight.
I bought it to work as primarily a search type light, as I commonly have to do searches inside a vehicle or indoors. The light was built to be a headlight for a bike, so I figgured it would have a decent throw but more spill which is what I was looking for. It works perfect. It far surpassed my streamlight x20 and strion. The fact that it has a 3 hour high mode helps out perfectly. I used it during one search already (warehouse) and it held up like a champ. The search lasted nearly 2.5hours and I kept changing between high and med (at least I think it was medium). It is kinda hard to change the modes, as you have to keep half clicking twice repeatedly, but I finally was able to get it onto a lower setting. I think I only got it on really low like once, but I was clicking it so fast I went right past it and could only get the medium back on. But the medium was actually what I needed.
So, *if you are looking for a good “search*” type light, but dont want to pay the big bucks of Streamlight or Surefire, give the Xtar a try. It really worked for me, and I hope to have continued success.
I dont know how to put pictures into the computer as I have a crappy phone, and my wife will not let me use the good digital camera for anything but the kids.
So, until I figure out how to use my crappy phone camera, I guess I am done.
Til next time
