Auction Closed: 3C Maglite with an MT-G2 - Closed

Auction Ended Thanks Everyone.

I have discussed this with our Admin, in case anyone is wondering. I am testing the water by doing an Auction here at BLF, for the 3C Maglite I just finished.

Specs:

  • 3C Maglite modded body, with File work and VHT paint
  • DrJones programmed 14x7135 Driver modded to run with two 18650 cells in series. Initial modes are H/MH/M/ML and it has ramping as well as hidden blinky modes. See DrJones info for the rest of the story.
  • Momentary switch put in the stock switch housing
  • Polished Aluminum reflector
  • Kaidomain plain glass lens
  • MT-G2 led on 20mm star (Cutter 5000k)
  • Aluminum heat sink
  • PVC liner in battery tube to hold 18650 batteries (Batteries Not Included).
  • Tail Cap spring has the low resistance mod, (copper braid mod)
  • This light can be adjusted from flood to throw by turning the head in or out.
  • Pulls 4.2 amps on High with good 10 amp hybrid cells.

Niggles:

It's a hand made light. It's not perfect, but it is bright as heck and a one of a kind. In order to focus the tightest spot, the head needs to be turned out past the "O" ring seal, so I added a second "O" ring further up to keep the head from wobbling. When you turn the head in, stop when you feel resistance, don't ham hand it and tighten it till it locks up, just "snug" will do. It gets hot Fast! The "C" sized heat sink is not huge, so it will heat up very fast on high.

Here's how the auction will be done:

It starts right now 09-08-2013 and it will end on Saturday 09-14-2013 at 11:00 AM CST

It is a "Sealed Bid" Auction of sorts. Do Not post your bid here. Post your bid via PM to me. ONLY BY PM to me.

I will maintain a reserved post (Post#1), where I will update the Highest Bid, so you know where you stand.

I will update the Highest bid only during the hours of 11:00AM - 2:00PM CST and Midnight - 2AM CST Daily, (more often if I have the time). I cannot update the Highest bid at night, as I work evenings and I do not have Internet Access there, any more.

I will only post the Highest current bid that I know of, not the actual bidder. Who you are is not for public knowledge, so only the Highest Current bid will be shown.

Since there are only a couple hours during each day that I can update the highest bid, please just be patient. I will do my best to keep it updated. I don't think it will be an issue, as I don't think there will be a ton of bids on this light. We will see.

You can bid more than once. If the highest bid showing is higher than yours, you can bid again.

MINIMUM: The minimun bid is $55 USD.

Auction Price includes shipping.

Question?? Please ask before bidding.

Thank you

Auction Has Ended

Get this some front page time.

Ol, I’ll make a opinionated suggestion (everybody’s got one of them now a days) might help a little.
I notice when someone comes in with a higher bid than the previous bid, the post doesn’t go back to the top for the original bidder to counter bid. Keeps getting buried down the thread list. He or she would have to be keeping up with this thread.
If you would make a new post ever time a new higher bid is placed (like ebay email “You have been out bid” or “we have a new high bidder”), back to the top for all to see it would go. You could still update post #1.
Very nice Maglite mod by the way.
.
Just my 2 cents.

It’s not a bad idea and one I have considered. I haven’t worried too much, since I am willing to bet there’s only about 4-5 people that would bid the price up any higher anyhow and also, as with most auctions, some of that 4-5 people will just watch and not bid till the last moment. Either way, your suggestion is good and if anyone else bids, I will try to remember to change the bid and make a new post announcing it.

Super Duper nice light at a budget cost!!!

Dan.

Current bid in thread title? Then it would apperar in email notifications. Heck of a light there, OL. I know you like the consistency and precision of lathe work but for me it’s your imagination and file work that set you apart.

That’s an idea. I don’t do email notifications, so I forgot about that.

Thanks to MRsDNF I edit thread titles when I update a build thread or add pics(not for just comments).

If I didn't already own one of your MTG2 lights, I'd bid on this one... good luck OL.

Things go bump in the night. Cheap light so far. The worlds first zoomie MTG-2

My bid finger is itchi'n!! ITCHI'N... is that a word?? Well, it is in Texas!!

MRsDNF.... I'll bet this would light up that beautiful trail you had in one of your post awhile back!!!

Dan.

Yes to all the above. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I am not in control of my finances. Haven’t been for about 30 years (cant remember). Yep that’s how long this old ba_d has been married. Could you buy it for me? Please. That way I would have a working piece of art created by two of the most talented people here at BLF. Thanks, you certainly are a gentleman TexasLumens. I’ll shout when I came around next.

I'm right behind you at 28 years.... or so I'm told.... heck, I quit counting long ago! I pretend I know...

Let me see what I can do here!! I haven't been in trouble for almost two hours! Time is a wastin!

Dan.

New high bid posted in Post#1

This needs to go back to the top!! GREAT LIGHT!!!

Dan.

This is a good idea. I would love to see an auction type area of a flashlight forum... Good luck with the sale OL.

Why is Post#1 the second post in the thread????

maybe because it’s the first reply to the original post?

Still not post#1, that would be reply#1!
