I have the ITP a3 titanium, (older version)
but because of the titanium, it always feels a bit gritty when unscrewing it, or changing modes...

If they had a neutral tint version, I’d definitely be all over this. I’m currently using an old ITP A3 with cool white xp-e LED and I love the durability, but not the tint. I’ve tried disassembling the head for an emitter swap but so far have been unsuccessful. Its true the titanium threads can feel quite gritty but I found I could improve the feel significantly by reducing the tension the tail cap spring exerts by compressing it to about half the factory length.

The Olight i3S is MUCH warmer (and a little brighter) than the A3 but don’t know if it’s available in Ti.

Description says AA so is it AA or AAA and can it use 14500 or 10440 depending?

It’s AAA (A2T would be AA), it should be able to run 10440 without frying and whilst retaining the modes in proportion (as it uses a PWM based circuit). But titanium doesn’t dissipate heat as well as aluminium so it may be best not to run on high for more than a few seconds at a time.

Is this an older model just with an updated emitter? If it’s based on the i3S then it would have the moonlight mode, hidden strobe and a constant current circuit, right? A few other good changes like square threads. I wonder…

I’m a bit confused, as the description says, under Finish, “Rugged Aluminium body with HA Type III anodising”, even though the material is described as titanium alloy

I had assumed the same internal design and circuit as the A3, but looking at the hkequipment listing it seems to be the constant current circuit (not good for 10440) used in the newer I3S with Med/Low/High and a 0.5 lumen ‘moonlight’ for low. I’d think that means hidden strobe and possibility of greenish tint on low levels, though I wouldn’t expect square threads as the body seems to be the same as the older A3. I’ll confirm when it arrives though.

Me neither. Looking forward to getting my second Ti light (after the D25A Ti, which is lovely).

I really like it too, but want something with a 1x AA form factor… I think AAA lights are underpowered. :smiley:

AAA is the way to go for ti imo. It’s not great for heat transfer so you’re limited in power anyway, then you may as well go for something as small and easily carried as possible. Hard to scratch up on a keychain too, which only AAA (or smaller) lights are really suited for.

Square threads are useful on aluminium bodies, makes them more resistant to wear. It is hardly interesting for a stainless steel or a titanium light: there will hardly be any wear anyway, whatever shape the threads are.
