AAA Kickstarter project / not pushing it, just sharing a flashlight story

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/darksucks/the-worlds-first-quick-release-aaa-keychain-flashl

like Jason’s other products, this will be way out of my ballpark.

host, driver disc, reflector, pill construction, and overall looks remind me of one of my first blf reviews:

Pretty expensive for an AAA light.
Especially when this thread for a Olight XP-G2 also just popped up.
That being said, it’s probably the cheapest time to ever get one, and Christmas is coming.

Incredible designs and hosts, but old emitters? Weird... This AAA of course has a nice emitter, but his other stuff looks dated, but seems to be from this year... The $3 Nanjg at the hearts of it is a bit strange, but makes sense I suppose.

Wonder how well the retention is, on the quick release design.

Outsourcing production to China, we’ll probably see his design in various forms at some point. :~

I heard back during his proto type run that the quick release it comes with is a nice firm fit, but that it will fit and work with the regular ones out there but feel loose

Oh, is the quick release a design already in use? I assumed he invented it.

Just keys to keys quick release keychains. Popular with trades people, locksmiths and Janitors

I’ve got a few quick release keychains already that I never use. I’m honestly more interested in the light that the quick release part. I don’t know that it’s worth that much more than a Fenix E01 Nichia.

You have to realize with Jason’s products, he’s building them solo. A one man company can’t mass produce something to get the price down.
So he builds high quality with innovative ideas. Pretty much custom lights on a large scale, that’s what your buying.

So the price to me is realistic for what your getting

$35 + $10 int’l shipping isn’t too bad, but being made in China, it doesn’t look too different from the Fenix E01 Jalben mentioned.

Can you show me proof?
I thought all of the Promethius lights where made by Jason

Never mind I found it.
I manufacture most of my own products. This time I’m not, so just to be clear:

I’ve been working with a well established flashlight company in China for the last 11 months, and they will handle the volume manufacturing of my design. This relationship enables me to bring this light to a large audience like Kickstarter, which would be entirely impossible to accomplish on my own.

I’ll wait for the Ultrafire version.

Not worth it.

Wait, what the heck?

Not trying to bust anyone’s balls, but something doesn’t seem right.

Who’s copying who?

this is THE ORIGINAL, all others are fakes:

Edit:

and the quick-release thing, i am using it already with my Worm SS flashlight. the following has 2 rings. attach 1 of it to the Worm (the Worm has very sturdy keyring attachment point!):

Hmm... are the Lumintop Worms identical to Jason's design except the quick release?

2 modes, lumen specs, yes looks very similar!
