Pros:

  • Stainless Steel
  • Removable extension for battery/size options
  • Glass lens
  • Plenty of o-rings (air tight)
  • Threads feel good (except head with drop-in installed)

Cons:

  • HEAVY
  • Machining marks
  • Hard to screw head on with a drop-in installed
  • Wobbly tailstand

Initial thoughts:

The X-07 looks and feels like a quality light, but when I looked closely I found some light machining marks and some black residue around the inside of the bezel. I have not tried to clean the bezel off yet, but it looks like it will come off with some light polishing.

I have also noticed some differences from the stock photo. Instead of the black boot and red o-rings, they are all glow in the dark. Not a big deal, but I am not a big fan of GITD items. Also, there is no missing o-rings on my sample like in the stock photo. There is one on each male threaded section of the host and one behind the lens. I have tested it, and it all seems air tight.

The UI is different than any other light I have had. You do one full click to turn the light on, and you will be in high. To change modes it is pretty simple. One more full click from high, and you will be in the low mode. While you are in either of the two modes you can do your tacticool momentary flashes with out need to worry about changing modes. While doing the momentary flashes it is just like an ordinary reverse clicky.

I have not disassembled the p60 module yet, but I am guessing it is a one mode driver, or possibly just a contact plate. The modes are just due to the 3 position switch, and a resistor. Not sure how I will like it yet, but at the moment I think it is kind of neat. It is different than every other light I have at the moment.

Will get more done after lunch. Photos and lux/amp readings will come later tonight also....

With the two-section battery tube it looks similar to an SF L2m. I saw this before on DX and the stock photos really make it look fantastic. Too bad the SS has limited heat transfer ability because I really like the appearance.

The host looks great, unless you nit pick and look at it in every angle under lighting. Looking at it, I think the black scuffs inside the bezel may be from some tool to install them during assembly maybe.

Ended up having to run around and then go to the girls parents for dinner, so I wont be able to get much more done tonight. I will pick away at it this week to finish it up and play test it out more

Kind of got side tracked and forgot to add more to this. But, also seems DX now has this marked as out of stock. A shame really because I wanted to buy another one...

Kind of an update. Havent modded much lately, but I busted out the soldering iron and did this one up.

The pill in this light is threaded the whole length, but the threads start a little further below the emitter end than a standard pill. This made it hard to screw the reflector on after the XML swap. So, I took an empty pill and transferred the stock driver and the XML to it.

Thought it would be direct drive on high since it had a resistored switch for the low mode. But I was wrongs

Next up was on to the boot. Like me some blue boot. It did not tail stand from factory, but remembered an old trick I read on here. Took an o ring of unknown size and put it around the boot, put it back in, and now it tail stands with the best of um.

Thats it for now. Got a few things on order to upgrade to the latest gen emitter, and something special in the works in the driver department
