Anyone ever found LG D1 3000mAh 18650s in a laptop battery pack?

This seems to be a great battery according to HKJ, especially if you can charge it to 4.35v. Has anyone ever unearthed some of these babies in a laptop pack? How about a Sanyo UR18650ZTA 3000mAh? Thanks! {8^D)

Guess not?

I’d be interested too. I did some searching awhile back and didn’t find anything about it. Cheapest I found from a reliable source was $8-$9 for 2 from FT. They have 2 listings, another at$11. I don’t know the difference though.

Yeah, if FT could get batteries here reliably I’d order some since that’s a great price! Checked Ebay and they’re only available from Korea and for lots more money.

Someone in the discussion said that the cheaper one was 4.2v instead of 4.35v, but I don’t believe it. The numbers are exactly the same on both.

Does anyone know the difference between these: https://www.fasttech.com/products/1447304

…and these: https://www.fasttech.com/products/1420/10004182/1314900-authentic-lg-icr18650d1-18650-4-35v-3000mah

…besides price?

Yea, they seem to be identical cells. FT is known to mislabel too. They have a listing for the ncr18650b at 4.35v which can’t be right.

Cheaper ones are older (2010) and come without plastic case.

Just wondering, how do you know?

I think someone bought the cheaper one’s and got older ones but I don’t think it was verified that the reason for it being cheaper is older cells.

A fellow member from another flashlight forum has both of them.
Cheaper D1s he received have date codes starting from J (which means 2010).
The 12-buck ones shipped lately are coded with M (2013) and L (2012).
Also the heatshrink is different - wrapped to the negative end on the newer ones (like on the fasttech’s photo) and trimmed on the oldies.

He did some testing and found that cheaper D1s have slightly higher internal resistance and lesser capacity, but in general they are pretty good batteries too.

Cool, thank you guys!
