X-Drive 1.8a buck driver for laser diodes. Prewired with 17mm round contact board. Never used. Will not fit the shallow driver cavity in my heat sink. They say these are the best drivers available.
That is the cost of a X-Drive without leads or 17mm round contact board. Just spend $30 on it, need to recoup some funds
Yeah, lets just hope you didn’t LED the diode. A lotfof the times when you kill them they still emit a very dim light, like a LED, but they wont lase. DD a LD is a very bad idea and has high risks. A PSU is the proper way to test a diode and Jordan doesn’t send dead diodes so there really is no reason to test the diode once you get it.
No flash is needed. If its over powered then it could A) protect itself or B) just die. I’d suggest finiahing it and keeping it. You only need glasses to burn and use inside. You can use it outside for sky pointing all you want without glasses (just make sure it doesn’t reflect off anything in the sky like wires trees etc……) burning gets old and quick. Only reason I have safety glasses is to show friends what it does and to meter my lasers. Kinda a waste if money since I personally don’t use them to burn anymore
$90 is a real deal. Would sell fast on LPF. DD at that low a voltage shouldn't hurt that diode at all.
I won't part with mine unless I get something more powerful. It's unlike any other tool I have and I will keep it around just in case. Plus, if laws change, acquiring one in the future may turn out to be more difficult and expensive.
Wasn't aware there was a special-edition all-SS version. Just discovered it on an old CPFMP thread. You might want to expand your search to over there as well. Good luck in your search!
