Home Depot got some new stuff

Stopped at HD to return the Giveaway DST and noticed they has about a dozen of new lights up front in display boxes. Flashlights, headlamps, pen lights, light sticks, etc. Mostly Defiants, but some Coastals. Most are real cheaply built lights, but a couple look interesting.

One a new version of the 2 pack 3AAA O-L has modded before. Looks to be the same except in body design. Has nice knurling. The kind that grabs you back a little. Really like it. Still has the hollow pill, but I like the size and fit of it. It also still has the pressed in tail switch. Not that I have had problems with them in the Defiants, but I prefer retaining ring secured switches.

Even more interesting was a 3D triple emitter with a deep reflector. It's quite throwy, but has a good balance of flood too. XPG2 or XPE2, can anyone tell from the pictures? Very nice body with thick fins, body tube and tail cap. I really like the look of it. The pictures below don't do it justice. Anno is cheap though. Easily scratches Plastic lens and reflector. The reflector is a little cheap looking, but works well. Couldn't get the driver retaining ring loose. Rough measurements:

Head OD: 69mm

Bezel ID: 55mm

Reflector OD: 59mm

Reflector Height: about 36mm

Triple emitter is almost $30. I would wait till it comes down in price due to quality issues with anno and reflector. The reflector works well, but doesn't look durable and looks cheap. 3AAA's are almost $10. Should come down in price too. HD has so many different lights out. There is no way they will sell all of them.

PWM. It has it, but I can't see it. Only in pictures and lines are thin. Does the thin lines mean its high?

High and low are widely spaced. Nice.

Measured 31kcd throw on high with alkaline cells. Couldn't get the light to work with DMM for some reason. Didn't try very hard. Late and need to get to sleep. I don't want to damage the light as I intend to return it until the price comes down a little. Here are some pictures. Most are mouse overs to save space:

Tree is about 250 feet away and 70 feet tall:

Mouse out low, mouse over high. Spill doesn't show in pictures.

Oh, the other thing about the triple emitter. It can be taken out of the package and put back in without damaging the packaging.

Cool

The 3D is only High-Low? No blinkies? If so, nice.

How visible is PWM?

How Much!!!

Triple emitter is almost $30. I would wait till it comes down in price due to quality of anno and reflector not being high. The reflector works well, but doesn't look strong. 3AAA's are almost $10. Should come down in price too. HD has so many different lights out. There is no way they will sell all of them.

EDIT: Added more info to OP.

This light looks average to me. But it got a very good beam shot!

It's average in some ways, below average in some, and above average some. It's frustrating because I really like it is shape, 3D capacity, heat sinking, and beam pattern. I want to know more about it, but not at $30.

I’m at my Home Depot right now in CA, and they don’t have any of those yet, really wanna buy those AAA lights

They probably have them, but not out. Unfortunately, I can't seem to figure out the SKU's of both products. The SKU's on the packages error out when I try to search them on the HD website.

Well, I have to crash. I updated some more info in the OP. Night folks.

The AAA lights look exactly the same as a Tech Lite Lumen Master my dad bought for my little boy when he was visiting my sister up in Idaho about 3 years ago. I think he got it for under $7 but can’t be sure. Any reviews I found on it said it broke down fairly fast, but my kid got it at 3 years old and he’s played with it for 3 years, the anodizing is worn, has some dings in it, he’s used it fairly hard for a kid, still works fine. I shoved a piece of 3/4” copper water pipe in it as a spacer and put an 18500 Li-ion in it. Nice little light, it’ll surprise ya how bright it is. Has a funky UI, with a strobe you have to go through to turn it off but all in all a pretty neat little light.

My local HD might actually have them in about 2 months.

If I could grab the triple emitter for around $20 I would be ecstatic.

skus are on the package

3D triple - 1000016980
3AAA - 1000016969

hope that helps. stock checker shows my local store having 71 where everywhere else is 23 for the 3d triple

Definitely looks like XP-G2’s in the tripple-emitter light.

Wondering about the reflector? Aluminum I hope…

The shiny inside surface and appearance makes it look like a chromed plastic reflector.

Often in these home depot item threads someone posts a stock checker or something like that, it never works for me. Anyone have that link? I’d like to see if I could mess around with it and get it to actually work.

try this

http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/catalog/servlet/Bopis2OverLay?R=203991778&storeSkuNum=XXXXXXXXXX&Overlay_Type=add_to_cart&locStoreNum=XXXX

Replace the first “XXXXX” with the sku either 6 or 10 digit sku and the last set of “XXXX” with the home depot store number. Ignore the product that name in bold it should show the quantity of the sku entered.

For example with the 3d triple in my local store would be :

http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/catalog/servlet/Bopis2OverLay?R=203991778&storeSkuNum=1000016980&Overlay_Type=add_to_cart&locStoreNum=1250

Yep, out of stock in all stores near me. :\

Oh well I’ll keep an eye on the excess DSTs and maybe pick the remainders off if they ever hit $12.

dedome anyone?

With the emitters on silver boards, it DEFINITELY looks like XP-G2s in these lights.
