At first glance I thought “another 4xAA light?”

At least the say XM-L2 (T6) not U2 like all cheap manufacturers where everyone believes that instantly.

So if it’s a T6 and ‘Neutral White’, does that mean that the bin has to fall within a specific range of kelvin to be ‘Neutral White’? For example, I always thought the T6 3C was a ‘cool white’, so for example could this be a T6 5C or something like that? Funny they’d son’t seem to give the wavelength in the spec’s.

It can be any 3 tint down to any 5 tint, so 3, 4 an 5. "C" does not denote neutral white. All 5 tints should be written like 5B4 or 5D1 not 5B or 5D.

Neutral Kelvin range is 5350K to 3750K.

Big companies actually do not mention a light as being for example 1C 1B or 1A, because of course often times all of these are used and some may not like one or the other. But on the opposite end a cheap company could specify something that most like and use whatever they can get.

Thanks for clarifying Hikelite. I have noticed that for some reason if you have a T6 and a T5 with the same value, it appears as though the CRI is higher for the T5 than the T6.

T2 T3 T4 T5 T6 U2 all are brightness bins which do not have any other significance.

CREE start their high CRI with the "5" tints (like 5B1) for XP-E/2, XP-G/2, XM-L/2, but that does not mean any 5 tint has a high CRI. Here you can have 75 Typical (around 75, more or less) and you can have 80CRI Minimum which can't be lower than 80CRI and can be as high as 85CRI. That is for XM-L2 or XP-G2.

Other LEDs like XT-E and XB-D can be had at higher CRI event at "higher tints" like 3 or 4 not only 5. Actually XB-D is a LED with the same brightness rating as the XP-E2 and was launched before XP-E2 but was quite overlooked and it's overlook now too.

Now on what you said, yes generally higher CRI are the ones that are lower in brightness, so in the case of a "5" tint, yes you have a brighter T5 with 75 Typical CRI and a less bright T4 at 80CRI Minimum

Thanks for taking the time for the great explanation, now it’s much clearer.

You're welcome, when I got the time why not, especially on these tint matters.

That is the same LED as the Fenix PD32UE, which has a nice creamy white beam. Very similar to the L3 Illumination L10 with the Nichia 219 LED.
