Self-discharge rate of average 18650?

I'm curious how often you guys top off your 18650's if you don't use them.

Just sitting in a drawer or in a light in the garage, how long can you go before you should throw it back on the charger?

Also, it seems I read soomewhere that you should charge/discharge them a few times to get maximum capacity out of them. Is that true?

Mine have been sitting aound for a couple weeks now and only minimal loss is found in them

3 to 6 months for the lights with batteries in them ...

Nitecore - at least every 2nd week .. [ parasitic drain ]

Lithiums don't self discharge, and "exercising" batteries is mostly a myth. The difference even if they exist are so minute as to be within the margin of error.

Good to know. Seems the "exercise" rumor I heard had to do with when you first got the batter, that you should cycle it twice. Not sure where I read that, however, might have just been a myth.

NiMH cells get better (within small limits) from use. Others don't.

Charge them, use them.

Works for me.
