Recommend a 200-400 lumen light with Side switch?

Newby here.
Can anyone recommend a 200+ lumen light that has a side switch, with possibly some kind of lock-out feature to keep from accidently turning it on when in a backpack, etc.?

Thanks it advance.

I just received this yesterday ($8.80 in last month's promotion). No lock-out, but the switch needs a very firm press to activate. You need to cycle through all modes, Hi-Med-Low-Strobe-SOS, but it's pretty fast with the side switch.

What kind of battery would you like to use? How much do you want to spend?

I don’t really know much about what is “best”, but I posted this under the AA sub-forum simply because AA’s are so inexpensive compared to CR-123’s etc. I’ve pi$$ed away several sets of CR123’s in the current Xenon bulb light I’ve got when it has accidently come on in my backpack.
Perhaps AA’s might not be my best choice? Open to recommendations on that.

Prefer something less than $75…$100 max.

the budget is plenty for AA.
take a look at Sunwayman D40A or Jetbeam SRA40 or Nitecore EA4 or EA4W.
however personally I’d like to suggest convoy L4.
to switch on need the tail switch which pretty stiff for accidental on.

Ah, sorry, I came to this through the new posts so didn’t see the sub-section. My Mistake.

If you are open to lithiums, I am really liking my Olight S10 - which will take rechargeable RCR123s - makes the cost over time work out pretty well. Has a ‘soft’ lockout (hold the switch down for 2s) as well as the manual lockout.

In AA - the Zebralight SC52 seems very popular and has a side clicky.

Thanks for the recommendations, gentlemen.
After looking over some of those lights recommended, I realize I need to modify my requirements a bit. I’d like a light that’s about 5” or more long.

sorotantaz, Do you know how long the Con. L4 is? I can’t tell from the literature I’ve come across on the web.

the Nitecore EA4 or d40A are around 4.6 inches long, but if that´s not long enough, you have the EA8, for example, the same light as the EA4 but with another battery carrier, so 8 batts

i took this list from “other” forum

18.2cm - Nitecore EA8 ( 8AA )
21.4cm - Fenix TK41 ( 8AA )
18.3cm - Jetbeam PA40 ( 4AA )
18.0cm - Fenix E40 ( 4AA )
17.5cm - Fenix LD41 ( 4AA )
18.0cm - Olight S65 Baton ( 6AA )
17.3cm - Eagletac SX25A6 ( 6AA )

Thanks a bunch, totilde!

If you got with a XxAA light, rechargables are highly advised. You’ll get better runtime out of NiMH cells than Alkaline.

Really? I didn’t realize that. I guess I’m just remembering those crappy NiCad batteries.

not only better runtimes, but also more power. Nimh can deliver more amps than alkalines, and they won’t leak into your flashlight destroying them.
LSD (low self discharge) will provide you with a few less mAh than non-LSD, but remain charged when not in use for several years (this was a big con for me in the past for the rechargeables)
there are some good and cheap chargers (i like the BC700) together with a 8 pack of envelops will give you a very good quality for not a very big amount of money, say 28$ for a 8 pack of 4th generation envelops (you can buy them direct from japan to a forum member) plus 25 for a smart charger.
just be very careful, the batteries, like the flashlights, are a bit addictive

Thanks for that info, totilde.
