Yes, I think I can do it, but not through the plain text search function.  I could either categorize them or add it as an item attribute.

I’d find it helpful to have a listing or a category for searching for protected cells.
Don’t know about anyone else, but if you sell a significant number, people are looking for them.

Any update on possible a deal with eagle eye for domestic x6 hosts? Hope your having a good holiday weekend

That would be a wonderful thing!! I love X6 hosts. It may be a pia for him though. Everyone that I’ve ever purchased from Gearbest had all of the other parts put in the same bag with the reflector so I’m sure you know how that story ends…luckily I mostly use the hosts for triples. It just makes me wonder if Gearbest does the crappy shipping or if they were shipped to Gearbest from Eagle Eye that way. I see that RMM often has marked down convoy hosts due to scratches and dings, hopefully he’s not having the same issue with any of the Jaxman hosts since he took them on. If he asks, Eagle Eye may ship them a specified way so not to damage anything.

Is there any way to define a word-boundary? Eg,

  • \bprotected\b
  • “protected”
  • +protected

etc.?

I tried that and it didn’t work.

Searching for “protection circuit” (without quotes) and checking the “search description” box finds most of the protected cells but misses one or two

Sorry about that.  Windyfire did not have sufficient stock to fill my order, so they sent what they had in stock with the remainder to ship soon.

No worries, I took too long to order. I’m just thankful that you carry them!

Any chance you might offer different FW for eswitch drivers?

We can get them but unfortunately someone bought all of our stock, so we have to wait a few weeks until the next shipment comes.

For the XHP50.2 and FET…I would try to use some long, thin wires (cheap and effective low value resistors).

Richard, my last XHP50.2 build was a FET +6 +1 and I set a PWM of 210 on my FET for turbo and that works great! Might be able to go 220 and get just a little more.

EDC rotation:

I got my JAXMAN E2L host last week from RMM and it’s in perfect condition. Not a nick or scratch. The threads needed lube, but I’m very happy with it.

I’d rather use my flashlight around the house than turn on the lights.

Yeah, I’ve purchased 3 from him so far and they’ve been in excellent condition…as are all of the hosts that I buy from mtn.

Just a couple of under exposed beam shots to show the difference between the TPAD quad MCPCB and the MTN Quad MCPCB both with Carclo 10621 optics

TPAD (left) MTN (right)

I really like the round beam profile of the MTN MCPCB, thank you for making these MCPCB’s available Richard Thumbs Up

How is the beam different with the mcpcb using the same optic? Are the tpads not centered properly?

Thanks Khas!  I worked on these for several months before ordering them, going through several iterations and ordering different boards for testing on FR4 before committing to the MCPCB run.  To be fair, I didn't get the offset idea myself---the DSCHE quad MCPCBs also had offset angled LEDs.  I didn't realize fully why until I got the TPAD MCPCBs and saw the beam pattern.

The pads are rotated slightly so that the square corona of one emitter does not line up with the others.

If you take 3 overlapping squares and rotate them slightly you get a more round shape.

Here is an example using 4 squares. (closest pic I could find)

Are these the X6 hosts that some are talking about and hoping might show up, something like this one ..?

I bought this built light from some guy who was living here in WA. but then to my recollection, which is horrible, and it’s been since about early last year when I bought this light from this fella, and he said something about needing cash, and moving, and something to do with lawyers, something like that, but don’t quote me, but he seemed like a really nice guy and so I bought the light and he sure did sell me one darn nice light it’s without a doubt one of my favorites and I sure have thought many times how it would be so nice to get some of these unbranded hosts available in Mt.s.. host dept.,

Sure wish I could remember that fellas name.. Hum
I carry this light a lot, every other day at least, and it has taken a beating but still the ano has held up nice,
I do use some Birtchwood Casey black to fix the scuffs now and then, but it is one awesome light,

I really do think the guy I bought this light from and who also claimed to have built it himself sure had to really know what he was doing, OR BSn me for sure,
The ano on this host is strong, the knurling is excellent, these would be a nice addition to the host department,
I think he called this light something like “The Other”.. beats me, but the price was great for what I got, throws like crazy with just the perfect bit of spill, sure hope those lawyers never caught up with him..

Eagle Eye sells those direct for $22 a pair, that’s right, the hosts are $11 each direct from the manufacturer. And they’re still made with the excellent Type III ano, come with everything but the star, emitter and driver. Probably my favorite light, I know I’ve built a bunch of em since they came out a few years ago. Only have about 17 now, must be slipping…

Hi Dale, Yes I do know that but when I last bought those EE X6 hosts at their Alie store, the hosts all four being as perfect as they were still had the EE branding, OR hold on, what a minute, Dale can you request unbranded host from EE..??

I’ve never thought about that possibility or even thought to ask them, they are a very workable company so I’ve learned, so just maybe,
I do know that if anyone knows about that possibility that would be you Dale, do you know ??

I am forever un-branding lights and that’s a lot of work for me and also my warped joking in my last post about some lawyer guy who used to live in WA, blah blah, well the light in those pics was made by Richard, and I do know if anyone knows where that unbranded host came from it would be Richard, but why doesn’t he sell them anymore, maybe not made anymore, most likely..?

I think I bought that light from him when he was still up here in WA but was in the process of packing up after finishing school and heading south,

That pictured RMM light is in the top 3 best lights I bought last year, Richard can build one awesome light.. and that particular host is the best I’ve ever seen and then along with Richards skillful building it has that perfect blend of throw and spill like I don’t have in any other custom built lights I own. So always trying to duplicate that particular build, host quality and all, and I have not even been successful, mostly due to host quality.

So still looking for the unbranded X6 hosts, unless as mentioned EE will ship unbranded by special request..????? That would be to wonderful if so.. I’ve refused to ask BG if they could start selling unbranded BLF X5 & X6 hosts but thought about it and sort of wish they would.

And by the way Mr Dale Sir, YOU told me a couple years ago now that when you got caught up on some builds you were currently working on then, that you would be VERY happy to build my ReyLight Ti X6 ,
I know you don’t remember but I sure do and I have been waiting very very patiently for you to get through with those.. never ending builds.. ha ha
LSX offered but he’s in Australia I think, and your much closer to WA, and besides I’ve seen all 3-4 builds you have done for this Ti X6, since I believe there’s only 5 total and I think you built all of them but MINE,
I really do want my Ti X6 different from any other, but that might not be possible if you are still working on those builds, ha ha.. or new builds, just wondering pal,
It’s not that I can’t build the Ti myself, but I want it built special, really special, it’s the last of the last I’m sure so really want to go every way imaginable but still workable, not a million LUX beast but good working beautiful light and there’s only one guy IMHO for that sort of thing with this one kind of light, You sir ..!!
Thanks… G.

Yeah G, Richard got those on a deal through BangGood I think and when he got them there were a LOT of issues, missing retaining rings and missing o-rings and such, and they I think made him pay for the “packets” of hardware to complete his order, this might have actually been Gearbest come to think on it… anyway, he was miffed and swore he wouldn’t do THAT again! Of course, that was before the Manufacturer stepped up and started offering lights and hosts direct. Perhaps we could talk Richard into dealing directly with Eagle Eye and he could get a run of non-branded lights at a mutually attractive price point?

I have no objection to their branding being on my lights, but I’m not buying them to be selling them either. Not that I haven’t let people talk me out of them (I’d have 40 or more if I hadn’t!)

Don’t know when I’ll be back to modding full bore, still playing the juggle game with surgeons so…

I actually got a new copper pill from The Man and was figuring on re-doing my own TiX6, so you might could talk me out of the pill I have in mine now. It’s made with Nichia 219C’s and pulling a LOT of amps from a single cell!

For the record, those didn't come through BG---they came through Adega, and it was a huge hassle.  I bought a ton of them and got burned---hosts were nice, but were missing all parts including retaining rings to begin with.  I am still planning on getting X6 hosts in the future, but they will most likely be branded.

-----

That light could have been me, but I moved over two years ago now and don't remember selling one of the X6 in person, but I could be wrong.  A picture of the tailcap spring, o-rings, and driver could probably just about clear that up.

I didn’t buy the light in person from you Richard and was just sort of clowning around with some goof ball comments.
You sold this light to me but when you were still up here in the WA, just after or close to finishing up with school and you were down sizing for your move back to UT, you gave me a awesome deal and that light is almost my EDC, it’s always in my EDC carry bag for sure, it’s one of the best custom builds I have and I have a lot of lights and this one still rates up at the top so I still thank you for this light, the throw is incredible, the tint, the spill, just a fantastic light. I’m horrible at picture taking but this is the insides, one thing was when I got it, it had some really awful green O rings, I mean really ugly like awful, but I have skills so fixed that right quick like.. ha ha
I don’t think this will ring your bell much but I tried..

Hey maybe EE will do you right Richard, I’ve never gotten a bad host from them, I just really like a unbranded look like this light I got from you, but sorry to hear of the hassles you went through but unbranded lights is for no particular really, I suppose it’s just that blacked out looked to me, and goes with my tinted windows in my car nice also, a no name light I guess, but I sure wouldn’t be opposed of buying hosts with an eagle on the side and from YOUR shop though, I hate waiting for a month or so to get anything from China, and Utah is really handy for us WA folks…
