Hello from Virginia

Hello everyone. I found this site via a Google search. I came here because of what this site is about....flashlights on a budget. I was a member on another well known flashlight forum but they keep talking about lights that I can not afford. Budget lights are looked down upon on that certain site. I live on a fixed income due to my visual impairment. I was born legally blind in both eyes. I can see but there is nothing that man can do to help my eyesite. I have 20/300 left eye and 20/400 in right eye with limited perifral vision and hardly no depth perception.

I am typing this sitting 6-12 inches away from a 22 inch LCD monitor. I enjoy computers and use Linux as my main OS for my computer. I gave up on Windows because I was tired of working on it all the time. I went to college for computers but am mainly a house husband with a two year old daughter and a wife in nursing school.I consider myself to be a born again Christian who reads my Bible, prays, and goes to church. I am not that guy who calls everyone a sinner, nor preeches at everyone, nor thinks that "everything" is evil, etc.

My goal on this site is to add a few budget lights to my collection as useable lights and not drawer queens. I will add them as money will allow me to. I am currently in the market for a bright flashlight for use on a farm. My parents will be moving to an 18 achre farm soon and I live at home because of my eyes. I want a light that is floody and is bright in total darkness for walking in a field, not for spotting things 300 feet away.

Welcome to the forum. You'll find a lot of helpful people on this site who won't put you down for wanting a cheap flashlight.

Welcome to the group, s1mp13m4n! You will get lots of friendly advice as you already know from your other thread. :)

Where in VA? I lived in VA beach/ Norfolk for about two years.

Enjoy it here, good company :)

Welcome to BLF! Good luck with your search for a light. I know it can be overwhelming with all the choices out there.

I live in Va Beach right now. My parents just bought a farm in Suffolk, VA so we will be moving there in a couple of months. That farm is the reason why I want a bright flashlight.

Welcome to BLF. I also used to live in Va Beach, courtesy of Uncle Sam....but that was going on 14 years ago now.... Good times!

Hi there s1mp13m4n, a warm welcome to BLF, thanks for joining! Feel to free to jump right in, questions, comments, reviews, links, opinions, they're all welcome.

I also use Linux as my main OS. I've heard that Linux is pretty well developed for the visually impaired. I'm not sure about this site though, is it usable for you?

Thanks again for joining, best regards!

I can use this site just fine and thanks for asking. :) I have lived in Va Beach since 1984 and in the same house for 21 years now.

Welcome to BLF s1mp13m4n!

Thank you for the welcome :)

Wish i was on here sooner, would love to meet another flashoholic from the Beach.......did you guys make out well when Hurrican Irene hit us, was really hoping for a power outage since i had all my lights and batts set out on the dinner table lol, but it was a no go on the power outage so i played wizard 101 all night.

Hello there. The Hurricane was no big deal for us. I am glad that we did not lose any power at all. I was all charged up and flashlights ready to go, but no deal. :) Where are you in Va Beach? Sent me a PM and maybe we can hook up and stuff. :)

Alfred! How's it going sir? Glad you rode out the storm.

Can tell you now that i am happy to be part of this forum again, and i see that i have missed alot.

recently joined myself, welcome to BLF good sir!
