3$ USB charger/Power Bank minireview and safetyquestion

Hi, bought some of that chargers on buyincoins(that use chinaslowestsnailpost)
Banggood have it too but WAY more expensive! Ok just 2$ but in proportion… xD
anyway buyincoins ship them in a bag maybe banggood ship a retail box… dunno

It looks good, nice solid plastic and come with a 15cm microusb to usb cable, works perfectly with samsung S4 and iphone 5, fullcharging 1 of them in less of 3h, a big cons is that have just 1 led and dont show the charge left

led on charging
led lightly on connected to usb with no battery
led off charged/broken xD

The charging time of 18650 is slow, ~6h to charge a panasonic 3100mAh, tested 2 both ends charge at 4.19v
*The idea is gift it on xmas with a 18650 protected panasonic/sanyo battery
But I’m wondering if are 100% safe and dumb proof :P*

here 2 board’s pics

here another cheap charger
banggood have that too
I bought 1, smaller but protected 18650 doesn’t fit, just flat top enter smoothly…
De-soldered the + side metal stuff putting a panasonic 3100 not protected

here the cheaper single chip board, just 3 resistors and 2 led on the others side

wont recommend or gift it…

P.S. didnt add referral links, dont like them ppl often abuse spamming the forums :frowning:

From the markings (57b6) it looks like the charge IC could be a tp4057. 500mA max charging current.
Some versions of ML-102 Charger use dual tp4057. ML-102 review

How do the two boards contect to each other. Looks like there may be a li-ion protection chip.

ty helios, I see is impossible say 100%safe especially specking of litio batteries xD

Lol

It is always good to be a bit suspicious but I guess if you tested it and it doesn’t overcharge or discharge it will be okay.
I found it useful to short the datapins on the usbout, so that the devices enable higher current charging.
