Deal is Off Again! - EXPIRED - Duracell Ion-Core AA LSD 4-pack $8.99 + 2nd pack 40% off @ Toys-R-Us

————The wife just bought a 4-pack of Duracell LSD batteries at Walmart for $10.97.

I just saw this deal at Toys-R-Us online, it looks like Walmart’s are going back…

“Here”: Toysrus.com, The Official Toys”R”Us Site - Toys, Games, & More

2 packs (8 batteries) came to $15.39 with Ohio tax. (must pickup at store within 5 days.)

good deal, the eneloop equivalent are $12 on amazon

Actually, The Duracells are 2400mah. Some have compared them to “Eneloop XX” batteries.

Are these made in Japan? If not, Id pass.

I looked at these in a store today. The AA and AAA both say made in Japan. The AAA ring in at 800mah.

Check your newspapers. I clipped a coupon a couple weeks ago for $3 off “any size Duracell rechargeable”. The coupon expires December 31.

This is an excellent deal if these are Duraloops XXX. I bought 4 AA and 2 AAA packs. Thanks for posting this deal.

Gearjunkie, you are watching too many movies ;) eneloop xx, not xxx :p

Somebody should send them to HKJ, to test!! Then we can say with more certainty if they are eneloops or not..before that...Just lpeculations.

Still a great deal though for rechargeable nimh batteries.

Ha ha … my brain keeps adding an extra X there. When I first saw the Eneloop XX in Amazon, I was even trying to figure out why it was named XXX.

Sounds like a good deal. The batteries made in Japan have the white ring around the button top. The ones made in China have the dark gray or black ring around the button top.

I wonder if you can get these in-store? There are usually coupons for $1.00 or $1.50 off a package of 4 in the Sunday paper that one could use for an even better deal.

These “ion” cells have a black ring around the button. Not sure what that is telling us.

I also did some googling to find out what they mean by “ion” core. I couldn’t find any good info. Duracell says that the cells can be charged in any Nimh charger.

Thanks for this post. I just bought a pack of 4 AA Duracell 2400mah at walmart this morning for $10.97. I will be returning them.

These cells are most likely made by Sanyo. They are made in Japan and test out at about 2525mah avg. They have similar bead blasted negative post and the dark ring on the top like eneloop xx. They also have near identical weight in grams on the scale. They also have 400 charge cycles and are lsd batteries. I imagine that Duracell had to lower the specs so people don’t think they are Sanyo eneloop xx. Plus they have to give a little lower number in case a few batteries measure down to 2400mah instead of the actual 2500. Less returns that way. Proctor and gamble is very careful about false advertisement.

Just ordered, thanks.

I did my own discharge test on the Ion Core Duracells and the results were pretty good:

Cell 1: 2.51 Ah
Cell 2: 2.47 Ah
Cell 3: 2.51 Ah
Cell 4: 2.52 Ah

The cells were charged at 1 A and discharged at 0.5 A.

When I picked mine up I saw the 'Buy one, get one 40% off' sign on the alkaline display but the NiMH weren't on the sales floor. Perhaps to avoid shoplifting, but I'm surprised they don't even mention that they stock them.

After that I was in Best Buy and saw the 4 pack for $19.99, yikes! That Walmart price isn't so bad.

BJ's warehouse club has a 6-pack for $15.99.

Thanks for posting this deal ada_potato.

Best Buy. What a rip off.

Thanks!

I pooled with a couple of other local deal seekers and ordered 7 packs for free shipping. The total with tax came to just under $54.89, or about $8/pack.

3 packs are mine, hopefully I’ll do a little testing when they arrive…

This deal is on again at ToysRus, 40% off second pack

thats a really good deal, they are probably 3rd or 4th gen eneloops that are re wrapped or at least comparable in discharge tests if they are duracell brand

I remember last year target was clearing out duraloop 1st gens (hold charge for 1 year) for around $3.80 a pack… I didnt find any at my store but dchomak hooked me up with 8 packs for around $30 shipped to my door  I top them off every 6 months

Thanks for the alert ada_potato. Ordered some. :)

I first read this thread this morning and found that a deal I didn’t even know about prior was back on.
A couple of hours later my wife handed me some cash and asked me to go to ToysRUS to pick up a toy for ToysForTots. A coincidence?, I think not! The gods are always directing towards the deals. Never mind I pigged out on the Target Duraloop sale last year, I cleaned out every Target in the area and spread them all over BLF. Still have some left too.
Since I was instructed to go there, it wouldn’t hurt to look would it? Here is what I saw.

The price for the AA’s are 12.99, just then a cashier came over and asked if he could help. I told him yeah, I thought these were 8.99 with a 40% discount on the second one. He scanned it and it came up at 12.99. Meanwhile I was checking BLF and found the online link to the 8.99 price and the 40% discount for the second. I asked him if they price match their own online price and he said yes.
I told him I would be right back, that I actually came in for a toy. I grabbed a toy that I know I would have liked if I was a kid and came back to his register. It took him awhile to finagle the price on the batteries, he was basically doing what ever I told him to do and he totals it up and then looks at me and says I can save an extra $9 if I get a ToysRUS card. Next thing I know, I donated $5 of the $9 saved to ToysForTots at the register and i’m walking out of the store with the toy, 2 packs of AA cells, a temporary credit card and the cash my wife gave me still in my pocket

Why did I do this? …………. Now the explanation:

While at the register, in a moment, in the blink of an eye I suddenly realized that if I buy the Duracell ion core cells I would then have a complete set. The Duracells made in China with the black top, the “Duraloops” with the white top, and now the Duracell ion cores - made in Japan. I know that because I checked. Now I have the full set to test and compare and post to this thread.
I also realized that by opening a new credit card I could test the free credit protection service that I signed up for, and is being paid for, by Home Depot when they got hacked! I should get an alert from them that a new card was taken out in my name. Got “paid” $9 to do this, and being as generous as I am, 0:) decided to donate just over half of that to ToyForTots. :stuck_out_tongue:

Was all of that brilliant, or am I just hopeless?
