What tablet to get - work with Eagle?

Needs to:
Interface with Photobucket( so I can use my camera again for posting images)
Work with Stanza and Kindle(I read a lot)
Work with Netflix or other movies
Have a stable OS( no lost notes)
Camera for Skype
Decent amount of memory (don’t need the most available here but enough to download a movie)
WiFi enabled but no internal modem

What are your experiences with different models
What do you find that you use/don’t use on yours
What do you wish yours had/why?
Any other thoughts or suggestions

Pretty much any decent android tablet should do you just fine. Just look for one with a decent processor and high resolution screen. My only advice is to get a bigger one. I have used 7 inch and 9-10 inch tablets and the experience on the larger screen is a hundred times better. If portability is not a concern I would definitely go as big as possible, even if they do cost a little more. I have an hp touchpad (old discontinued model) and I use it every day. To be honest I mainly use it on the toilet. :cowboy_hat_face:

I recommend the ipad mini or if you want bigger and have the budget, the ipad air. I am an Android fan, I have the new 7” Android Nexus 7. And am typing this from my Android phone LG G2. My daughter prefers ios so I recently bought her the mini, and it is more stable than the Android tablet. If you have any other questions about either, let me know.

I use a Pipo M8pro and so far I am happy with it

It’s really going to come down to Android vs iOS, and budget will play a big deal into which may be best.

I’m a total android fan boy, but greatly respect that the iPad simply works, and does what you need it to do. You will pay more for it that you could for a good android tablet, but they are a VERY solid piece of technology. You’ll pay for the tablet, and often times for the apps.

Now, if you’re on a more strict budget, you can get a great quality android tablet, current models, I’m a HUGE fan of the Samsung’s. You can even save more money by modifying the software further…free apps and such. I drool about getting one of the new Galaxy Tabs and turning it into a universal remote control for EVERYTHING in my house.
Android is generally better bang-for-the-buck.

You’ll be happy with an iPad for sure….And most likely be just as happy with any major android tablet.

Nexus 7 (2013) is the best bang for the money by far.
Only issue imho with nexus devices is no sdcard slot.

I have the above mentioned Nexus 7 (2013) and the original ipad mini. Bought them both brand new in box for the same exact price. I love Android and I prefer it but with my experiance with both, I have to recommend the ipad mini, it is smooth, no lag, no freezing. Unfortunately the Android tablet has many frustrating issues, even though it is Google’s flagship device running its latest and greatest software.

Photos… or it didn’t happen… J)

But they have to be illuminated by the piss light.
Thanks for everything so far. SO has the Nexus so I’m curious about it. Sincing with my iPhone is a plus for apple. Not sure about going big from a portability standpoint but a bigger screen is better for movies. Typing sucks on an iPhone or iPad touch. Will watch this thread for a week or so and bump if needed. I look forward to posting from a stronger platform.

Nexus 7 (2013) 16gb wifi $230
Ipad mini (original) 16gb wifi $300
You must have found the mini on a major sale.

You get lag & freezing on your nexus 7? Other issues you’ve run into?

I’ve been using ipad since they first came out. I started with ipad 1, and am now on ipad 3. I do everything on it. My 24” iMac has been collecting dust for over four years now. I can do everything on my ipad. Save a few dollars now, and you’ll be kicking yourself a year from now when your looking for another tablet because the one you bought doesn’t do what you want.

This must be a matter of being used to a phone or other, I find it better than the others.
I’d go for the iPad air, I have also seen the lag in the nexus, not a deal breaker nor a very noticeable thing,it’s perfectly usable, but if you’re used to the iPad you’ll notice the difference. The nexus is an excellent tablet too, but if you have the iPhone, I think it’s a better idea to go,for the iPad, so you’ll have all the apps you bought for your iPhone there, and most of them sync’d via iCloud

I believe you, no photos please.

I have an ASUS Transformer TF-201 that I purchased for work use when I’m on the road. When I first started using it I thought it was great.
A few months later my employer provided an iPad 2.

As much as I hate to admit it there is just no comparison between the two. Though neither the ASUS or iPad are the current leading edge in tablets they are comparable in price. The iPad is far superior, streams video better, cameras are better, user interface smoother, faster, less issues, email app is better, calendar app is better.
As long as you’re using it for something Apple approves of you’re fine.

The complaints I have with the iPad is no SD slot (ASUS has 2), no HDMI out (ASUS has one) and no USB (ASUS has 2). I believe you can get adapters for the iPad but that’s extra.
It is much expand storage and transfer files to/from the ASUS.

I think you’ll find the iPad hard to beat for your intended use, just charge it up, get it on you network and go.

Thats normal price. You can get much better deal if you shop around. The new version of the ipad mini is out so the original is going on sale often. Yes, I got lag, freezing, keyboard doesnt work at times, touchscreen doesnt work at times on Nexus. It is googles flagship small tablet, stays updated with the latest software from them. Unfortunately newith new software also comes bugs. When it works correctly its awesome and I love and prefer the size over the ipad mini, but the ipad is much more reliable. No issues with the ipad mini at all, definitely streams video better, stays connected to wifi better, i like the keyboard layout better also. Keep in mind I am an Android guy, so I have no bias. I recommend going to the store and playing with both. I use my Nexus 7 alot but recently its been so frustrating I have just left it sitting on the dresser. The latest update to kitkat, their new software version has created more problems than good for me :(. It freezes so often I have to turn it off and back on to get it working correctly.

i like my nexus 7 wifi

i had 2 different ipads over the years too… they are ok, but i prefer droid os

how about FNF ifive X2? looks interesting to me!

I had a 7" tablet and let me tell you, movies and reading on the kindle ap sucked! Next time it's 10" or larger. If I were you, I would get the full sized iPad air. It makes the most sense, since you already have apple products.

7" tablets are just too small. As an Alternative, look at the Freelander PD80 / PD800 which uses Android and has the Retina display. The Freelander I had worked flawlessly and I thoroughly enjoyed it, except for the 7" screen. Get the Retina display on whatever tablet you get. The difference is absolutely stunning with movies.

The screen on the iPad mini is 7.9” versus the 7” screen of the Nexus 7. The aspect ratio is different between the two and makes the minis screen seem much bigger, because it’s more square, there is much more screen than the rectangle screen of the 7” nexus. I’m on my iPad mini now and it just simple works, it does what it suppose to do 100% of the time. I like the size of my rectangle Nexus 7 better but unfortunately it has issues, I actually was going to send this message from it but in the process I would have to hit the same letter 3 or 4 times to get it to register, it’s frustrating to say the least. I have tried factory resets, power cycles, and all but it just has problems. I may actually try to have it replaced under warranty if it doesn’t get in a better mood soon. Far as the retina display goes, my new Nexus has the equivalent of the retina display and about the only time it makes a difference with both side by side is with hd pictures and hd movies. I’m pretty sure the average person wouldn’t notice a difference unless they were side by side. I watch a ton of YouTube videos on both devices and I enjoy the experience on both. So my perfect tablet would be the form factor of the Nexus 7 with iOS as the operating system because it simply works 100% of the time.

What about all the other tablets that are flooding the Chinese sites…any of them good? What processor/version of os/other things to look for?
