2013 shipping guidelines

I was checking out international shipping rates and just for kicks looked up the current regulations regarding shipping of lithium cells. As of last January it was legal to ship cells of the capacity we use up to a maximum of 8 cells individually packed so I went to the Efest site(BestVaping) and where they used to say they no longer ship cells abroad they now claim to ship most anywhere once more. They have a new cell, a 16650 2.2Ahr imr that looks promising for Mag D mods and while 4 x 14650 will fit without boring, 3 x 16650 would up the capacity from 3.8Ahr(4 x .95Ahr) to 6.6Ahr. I know that side by side boring for twin 18650 has been done as well as triboring for 18650 so I’m guessing a tribore for 16650 should be less involved. Anyone done this, maybe for a shorty 3 x 16340?

I wonder if the 16650 ICR is the Sanyo cell? I have been trying to get these for awhile.

I feel almost certain that it is the Sanyo cell. Efest shows a 4.3v charging voltage. So it’s the Sanyo or a one in a million coincidence.

I think there is an acer laptop / netbook? using these 16650's

Should have bought them from fasttech when I had the chance ...who knew .!

I guess my point is that the restrictions aren’t so strong as to eliminate the possibility of renewed shipments and the price of those cells is so low it might be worth taking a flyer on 8.

I’m waiting for a quote to come through on two.

I believe the maglites were never bored for 3x18650. They were bored for 3x16something batteries. I remember someone did the boring at CPF. Maybe he still does.

Your probably right I saw that thread and just assumed 18650 that can’t be true. Hopefully Steve will clue us in about his quote.

3 X 18650 ends up a lot fatter than a maglite tube.
