Jeez, what do you do with 500 AAA batteries?

Or 32 18650's, for that matter/

I've got 8 Eneloop AA's, 4 AAA

8 18650's with four on order for out special buy

6 14500's and 4 10440's that were shipped to me by mistake

Maybe 40 AA and 40 AAA ALkalines for emergencies, same with "D" and "C" cells

Rats, finally sold my 2010 509hp Mustang...now I can buy more lights!

Sold the red one too! Now guess what I drive, doing my penance for 500 hp commuters...

Lots of different small battery sizes including 148 LR44 - I got through 12 AG4s last week.

A battery recycling box that weighs 60kg - but there are three big SLA batteries from a UPS in there. There are an awful lot of dead AA and AAA alkies in there (from work)

There almost certainly are others, I just can't find them just now.

The numbers from my light tests are always to be found here.

They are rechargeable batteries from Apple.  Some people say that they are eneloops rebadged as Apple batteries = Appleloops.

alkalines - just a few, mostly ones that came with remote controls; now even my remotes have nimhs

lithium primaries - 4xAA and 4xAAA that I got on sale recently

nimh AA- 36

nimh AAA- 36

lithium ion- 8x18650, 4x14500, 2x10440

imr  lmr   - 2x18650, 2x14500, 2x10440

lipo  - none

gel/lead  acid / car battery/deepcycle- none

I'm testing my 18650's now to see what kind of shape they are in before deciding how many XTAR's to get in the group buy (2 or 4). Even though none are older than 2 years, some of the 2400's are down to about 1300mAh capacity. I didn't do them any favors by keeping them charged instead of partially discharged for storage. But I like having batteries ready to go. Since I can only use one light at a time, maybe I really don't need more than 4 18650's. I understand that even if you store them properly, they still can't be expected to last more than a couple of years.

alkalines - a few [phasing out, in favour of nimh]

lithium primaries - zero [although I should keep 1 pack in the car]

nimh AA- [ 20 - 2000 mah eneloops - 12 original / 8 tones], [4 - 2500 mah Sanyo XX]

nimh AAA- [ 4 - 800 mah eneloops], [4 - 800 mah rayovac hybrids]

lithium ion- zero [unless cell phone counts? lol]

imr  lmr   - pardon?

lipo  - pardon? I have undergone no liposuction lately.

gel/lead  acid / car battery/deepcycle- I have a car, it has a battery Smile

None of the above - some of the above.

I use the maha c-9000 to keep the batteries in good shape and a mts-mini battery tester to test relative capacity remaining of batteries.

alkalines - none. I hate them. Some duracells I had before damaged one flashlight, 2 remote controls, one 25 years old British big ben table clock which my wife and I loved.

lithium primaries - 10, but I didn't use them because of non reputable brand (Tenergy). I was afraid about using them in my Fenix P2D Q5 flashlight. According to specs maximum discharge current was 500mA. P2D was pulling 1+ Amp.

nimh AA- 60+ regular (from 1300mAh old ones to 2600mAh not to old). 8 Eneloops.

nimh AAA- 24.

lithium ion- 21 18650. 18 1800mAh removed from two laptop battery packs an 3 solarforce 2400mAh. 2 x 18500 Ultrafire, 2 x 16340 Surefire.

imr  lmr   - none

lipo  - none

gel/lead  acid / car battery/deepcycle-. one in my UPS and one on each of my two cars.Sealed

alkalines - 38 = 26 AA & 12 AAA (Not including the ones in use)

lithium primaries - 8 = 4 CR2 & 4 CR123A

nimh AA-  I'm soooo cheating, A couple of my R/C planes still fly on AA nimh packs Silly

8x 8 cell AA battery packs = 64

4 x 10 cell AA battery packs = 40

4 x Duraloops

4 x Eneloops

7 x Duralcell nimh's

= 119

nimh AAA- 6

lithium ion- 22 = 10 x 18650, 8 x 14500, 4 x 16350

imr  lmr   - Sad

LiFePo4 - 10 x 18650

lipo  - 23 packs from 80mah to 4500mah with between 1 and 3 cells in each.

gel/lead  acid / car battery/deepcycle- 4 gel cells 12mAh each, I used to use them for field charging but with the capacity of the Li-Poly cells they don't get much use now.

I also have a selection of wierd sized NiMh's

100 x 2/3A (17x28mm) 1050mah, but can be dicharged at more than 30A, 8 x 10cell packs and the rest are still loose.

50 Sub-C (43x22mm) 3000mah, good for more than 60A (by a fair bit)

10 5/4A, of which I don't remeber the capacity.

Last and certainly least,  I have about 25 x 1/3 AAA  (10x15mm) NiCad's with a terrible exciting 50mah capacity....bless 'em.

alkalines-

One pack of Duracell AAs and one pack of Duracell AAAs.  Used in the small 1-cell lights I keep in the cars/toolboxes/etc, as well as clocks and similar very low drain devices.  Several 9v batteries for multimeters.

lithium primaries-

Just a few button cells - I don't like primary batteries.  Actually, I'm not even sure I have any loose lithium primaries.  The only one I have right now might be the one in my watch...

nimh AA-

A few of them, a mix of Duracell and harbor freight.  They don't see much use.  None of them are charged right now, in fact.  (always store nicds dead if you don't plan on using them soon!  Self-discharge is what makes dendrites grow, and dendrites are what makes cells short!)

nimh AAA-

A few, somewhere.  None I could find quickly if I needed to.  They see no use.  Might not even work anymore.

lithium ion-

Umm...  now this is the big category.  Smile

18650 protected:  2 Trustfire flames.  2 trustfire real 2400mah ones.  2 no-brand 1500mah ones.  3 ultrafire-counterfeits "3000mah" that range from 50mah to 1000mah.

18650 unprotected:  One trustfire 2400mah, spare from 4 I bought to rebuild a 3-cell laptop pack.  ~25 new 6-cell laptop packs I've been meaning to cannibalize for about a decade now, that are now all half dead from self-discharge. (Anyone want a bunch of laptop packs?)

14500 protected:  4 Trustfire flames.

10440 protected:  2 Trustfire "600mah".

16340 protected:  2 Trustfire flames.

16340 unprotected:  2 generic DX specials.

imr / lmr-

None yet.

lipo-

None yet.

gel / lead acid / car battery / deepcycle-

Well, this is a big category too.  Especially if you go by physical size, or weight.  A ton or so...  Smile

10 5ah 12v gel-cells:  used for spotlights, lanterns, and projects.

4 35ah AGMs:  one used for backup by my solar water pump, one used in one of my cordless air compressors, two spare for other projects.

10 2.5ah spiral-cell AGMs:  9 in parallel for a high-surge pack for my 12V system, 1 for projects.

8 6v 220ah golf cart flooded:  solar system  (plus one sitting on my porch that decided to become a 4v battery, and is now scrap lead)

4 12v 115ah marine flooded:  2 as backup for the solar system, 2 as spares.

12v, 85ah marine:  My subie.  Large-size 12v car battery, plus two 12v 115ah marine: My jeep.

I had two good spare car batteries, but my neighbor stole them.

2 12v, 50ah AGM: Kinetic sculpture lights, horn.

4 12v, 17ah AGM: Used in a portable power supply I built into a toolbox.  Open the lid and plug things in.  800W inverter and 12V outlets.

None of the above-

Lots of batteries that are parts of things or single-purpose, like my laptop, cell, camera, mp3 player, etc, etc, etc.

24 4000mah NiCd high-discharge D cells, in a remote control car I haven't used in a decade.

Many batteries for various cordless tools.  (dewalt, ryobi, bosch, black and decker, etc)

Several nicd N cells for a vibrator I used to have.

A few 9v nimh for my multimeter with serial port, as it eats them very quickly, but you need to leave it on for hours at a time to monitor things.

Lots of the little button cells for digital calipers.  They seem to eat batteries like mad.

Umm....  Did I miss anything?  Probably!  Smile

Every flashlight I own has batteries in it ...

If I took the 18650's out of my lights , I would have no where to store them all ...

AA's = Lots , Dry cells , Alkaline's , Nimh's

AAA = As above

14500 = maybe 4

CR123A - Primaries = Maybe 10 left ,

16340 - 17 not in lights -

18350 - 2 ,

10440 - 6

17650 - 2

22600 - 2

18650 - 30 not in lights

Always remember , the easiest thing in the world to do , is to expel hot air from your lungs and through some vocal chords ..
The resulting sound may , or may not be worth listening too ….

I just noticed the first post mentioned bragging rights...  I have 550ah @ 24V on my porch.  That's 550,000mah if you want to express it in flashlight terms.  Does that count?  I recently sold some other batteries as scrap lead...  1200ah @ 24v.  (if it were 3.6v, that would be 8000000mah) Smile
