XinTD V4 modes seem odd

Today I received my new XinTD V4 from Int’l Outdoor. I got the 4-mode XM-L2 T6 3C. What seems unusual is it only changes modes when turned off. I have to have it off and bump through the modes to get to the mode I want, then turn it on. The bright flashes that appear when it momentarily turns on are blinding and not always obvious which mode it is.

Or, I can also turn it on/off repeatedly to cycle through the modes.

I thought it would turn on, then let me cycle through modes until I reached the mode I wanted, then have memory if I turn it off. It isn’t doing that. I completely disassembled/reassembled and it is still working as described.

Is it working right?

It’s called a forward clicky, or “tactical” switch. If you don’t like it, you could order a reverse clicky and install it yourself.

It’s working right.

With a forward clicky you have to cycle through the modes with half presses before you click it to make it stay on.

With a reverse clicky you click it to turn it on and then cycle through the modes with half presses.

Which suits you better depends on how you plan on using the light. I generally like forward clickies better, but every once in a while I decide to change modes while the light is already clicked on and the procedure for that can be a bit tedious.
