Retail AA batteries are clearly not covered in heatshrink tubes. AAs and some other batteries seem to be covered in a thin heatshrink tape - there is a seam where the tape overlaps and the ends of the battery have the tape wrap smoothly over them like it’s been heatshrunk.
Does anyone have a link to more information about that for the curious? Thanks!
