Dorcy Pop-Up Lantern

A new light from Dorcy; a combination flashlight and pop-up lantern.
The colored plastic ring comes in red-green-blue, colors are chosen randomly.
The soft-rubber push button cycles modes from: low-high-annoying strobe-off

You can flip the hook to hang it up.

Size comparison.

No, it doesn’t come with lithiums (it comes with some generic Heavy Duty batteries).

Give the top a little twist, and it pops open!
The diffuser is a plastic mesh.

You can take the top off without permanent damage.

The white plastic ring (top of mesh/diffuser) snaps into a slot in the top cover/lens assembly.

What’s in here?

Let’s get a closer look…

As you can see from the ceiling bounce shot, the flashlight part of the lamp isn’t going to set any
records. There is plenty of orange/blue artifact at the fringes of the obviously magnified image of the
die.

This picture came out very dark :frowning:
As a lantern… it’s not so bad. It would be OK as a camping lantern, or to have a few to spread around the
house in a power outage. I got them as a “Buy-1 Get-1 Free” deal on Black Friday. At the regular price of
$16… I think it’s too much as it’s 90% plastic.

Mess to keep the bugs out! lol Thats a neat light. I love camping lights. I always buy the cheapo ones. Mostly because they end up being left out in the rain by accident. Or stolen off the table at night. I have a few coleman ones. But, I like how this one packs down tightly.

I got the LL Bean version as a Christmas gift. It does well for what it is. High/Low mode, no strobe. It has a descent TIR optic so it makes for a descent flashlight when its collapsed. I might tear it open one of these days and put a different emitter in it.

i got an llbean one for christmas too

already put an xml2 5k in it. had to do a lot of grinding on a copper sinkpad to make it fit the board.

I thought about ditching that and using a driver, but i like that the stock driver requires ~1.5second hold on the button to turn on
