Convoy S3 lens rattle

Just received my Convoy S3. Very, very nice. Only thing is my lens can rattle a little when I shake it. Not a big bother but is there an easy way to tighten it?

Loosen the bezel about 1/4 turn, then reach in from the tailcap end and lightly snug the pill against the lens, then retighten the bezel.

Is there a trick to loosen the bezel? Mine is really on there.

Got it.
Found another thread on it. Used a little bit of heat from a heat gun, didn’t take much, and it loosened right up.

Thanks.

PS. This is nicer than I expected.

phew—— I am expecting one in the mail…
glad that could be fixed

I think you’ll be happy.

The bezel always sticks on the S3s even when they've been apart multiple times. I have a C-shaped piece of copper pipe I slip over the bezel, then grab with vise grips.

Are these lights ipx rated? I am interested in this light ,but sounds like it can’t be too waterproof

Why would it not be waterproof? Silicone switch boot, o-ring at the tailcap, o-ring between the bezel & body, o-ring between the lens & bezel...

I haven’t had a chance to look at this light and know nothing about them but if the lens was rattling I assumed there was no o ring there ,thanks for the explanation

As shipped the pill wasn’t threaded into the body deep enough. Unthreading the bezel 1/4 turn (as per Comfychairs directions)and then threading the pill down into the body until the whole pill/reflector/lens assembly lightly touched the bezel, took up all the freeplay. Threading the bezel back to tight (1/4 turn) compresses the o-ring to seal the assembly. It’s pretty straight forward once you have the light in your hands.

If it were a conventional design like the other Convoys, with a removable head and no removable bezel, you'd just crank the pill in until everything is mashed together tight and never give it another thought. But this one, the pill has to go in from the front, then the reflector/lens/bezel loaded in after. If you fully tighten the bezel first and then try to reach up through the battery tube to tighten the pill by grabbing something on the driver, you'll likely rip off some driver components before it's tight enough (there are no notches in the back of the pill to grab with any tools).

FYI, the pill thread is the same as a P60. If you grind/file the rear tapered section of the P60 pill to a smaller O.D. to clear the threads you can use any pre-built P60 stuff you might have laying around.
