FS: Copper pills for UF C12!!

Hey all,

Here it is. This new design is going to use as much of the copper as possible

The pills will be deep enough to stack extra 7135 chips, but still keep most of the copper in tact. The plate under the sinkpad is nearly 1/4" thick!

Aside from the longer treads the greatest change is how the drivers will in stall.

With this new design there will be NO soldering required!

The board is a snug fit and the rim of the pill is easily crimped to maximize contact pressure between the driver and pill.

It will be about a week before I run the batch.

Prices will be.

1x $25

2x $23 each

3+ $21 each

Shipping is $4 world wide.

Looks great!

Oh, I like that idea of the crimping! Nice design! Think I'll have to buy a C12 now.

Or from BangGood with a good driver:

This thing is on the way to me

@vestureofblood:
Is there a possibility to get this made out of aluminum for less?
I don’t drive my XM-Ls at 5Amps, so I don’t really need copper all the way :stuck_out_tongue:

What’s the difference between a C8 and a C12? I’m just trying to decide if I should get one.

The heatsink is much bigger at the C12.

What about reflector size?

The reflector and pill are the same

You could say that the C12 is an enhanced C8 - back then, in the old days, when all was black and white, the C8 was made for 3W LEDs - today you usually get an 10W XM-L in that thing.

PayPal sent for 1 x copper C12 pill.

paypal sent for 1 c12 copper pill to US.

Looks like a good driver for this light to make is rip

The C12 has a larger diameter pill which should/could have more contact for better heat transfer at that interface.

VOB, How’s the thread engagement compared to the sloppy OEM threads? Are you keeping with the stock fit or less clearance between the threads? It might be hard to guaranty fitment in all C12s with too much less.

Thanks everyone who has provided links for the light and driver options.

L4M4,

I dont think having a larger aluminum pill is going to gain you anything vs the factory one.

lightme,

The threads on the factory pill in the sample lightjunkie sent me were decent. I may add 1-2 thousandths of an inch to them but it wont be much, I dont know what the tolerance from light to light is on the china made stuff.

Really looking forward to this pill! Can’t wait to see how it woks!

My C12 pill is 27.7mm OD and the female thread is 27.3mm ID. That’s only .2mm engagement at any point. The threads are about .5mm deep so a pill thread diameter of 28.1mm should fit and would double the contact area. That’s almost .016” larger so only a thou or two over stock won’t do much for mine.

It doesn’t sound like much but not only will it have more surface contact at a thicker part of the thread, thermal grease can be thinner on the non-contact side.

If the ones you’re making are less than 28mm, would you mind making a shallower cut for those of us who know the max size that can be used?

Great design, good luck with the sale!

woo hoo… … hmm finally I can give my C12 some life to it

Very cool. I might just have to buy one one of these days.
