New Angle Head Flashlights @ Manafont

Two new models have arrived recently.

DaZongTong 2-Mode LED Flashlight

One is 16340 and the other 18650. Seem to have an unusual choice of LED for such an application. Also lacking a clip.

Sorry, next time I'll look before posting.

No need for a sorry I'd say, happens to the best of us. :)

If those emitters are warm white then for the price it would be a good buy (if you happen to already have a head strap). Otherwise the Ultrafire UF-H3 is the best choice as Zebralight no longer sell H60's.

I woder why they don't make decent cheap angle flashlights?

How hard it can be to make a 18650 based angle version with hi med lo with perhaps an osram emitter to cut down costs and delivering it at lets say 12 usd?

The smiling shark ss-004 was close but turned out to be a POS light.

Hopefully we'll find out soon. Mine was shipped on Friday June 10th so hopefully will be here soon.

Looking forward to your review Don.

+1, your reviews are excellent and just deep/detailed enough for my taste.

I got a headband from KD and a DaZongTong 16340. Although it looks like it is made to fit a Zebralight headband, it is too small, although the 18650 version would fit fine. I discovered that the warm tint resulted from what looks like orange whiteboard marker on the LEDs. The coating was uneven which is what gave it away, it seems a bit strange for a mass-produced item to use this kind of makeshift approach. Fortunately with the whiteboard marker removed the LED tint is okay, maybe equivalent to a Cree WD. If you put the battery in backwards little red LEDs turn on, although one of the LEDs in my example was dodgy, and it is brighter on low than high (despite using around an amp less). There is probably very lax quality control at the factory.

Low mode (white) is at a useful brightness, equivalent to medium-high on a Zebralight H60. Field of view is less (and square) but good enough. I think the DaZongTong 16340 is good for those wanting a headlamp for the least possible money (and have a spare headstrap) or those wanting a backup headlamp to stash around the house or in a car.

Just found out that the TrustFire Z1 is only a few dollars more.

Wasn't after a cool white headlamp, but now that I've ended up with one...
