Upgrade option for Dewalt Flashlight?

I have a Dewalt Flashlight which uses the standard 18 volt rechargeable battery pack. Model # is DW919. The old style incandescent buld has blc60018x on it. It looks pretty much like the old style bulbs for the big (non-led) maglites. Anybody have any experiance with replacing this bulb with a cree led type? I’m looking for some lumens to makeover this joke of a light! And in the spirit of the forum, trying to keep the price friendly to the wallet $12 or less, and no modding unless it’s idiot proof. Thanks.

If you want a floody dropin upgrade that doesn’t require modding skills-heres a link to the Fusion36 module for the newer style Dewalts on Ebay:

Yeah, I’ve had some luck finding a few options but really wasnt looking to spend $30+. I’m hoping someone could chime in with a decent budget upgrade.

There are a lot of MR16 bulbs that will run on voltages of 12-24 volts as is. They have integrated drivers. They are typically 50mm wide so I think one could fit. I do not know how much fitting would need to be done to make it look halfway attractive nor be secure. I am considering doing this for a couple of Ryobi 18V lights that I have.

These LED bulbs can be bought for about $3 and up. Cheap enough?

Home Depot sells some MR16 bulbs, I can take it with me and perhaps try them out to see how that may work. Thanks for the idea. All ideas are welcome.

Oops, I see that dchomak has beaten me to the punch, but his thread: My $2.24 triple emitter Mag Mod might help.

The price is right, and I think you’d just need a resistor to bring the voltage to usable levels, if the one you got wanted 12v.

Most of the MR16’s I have seen have a driver built in that handle 12-24 volt input, with no problems. In another thread I tested one up to 25V. So 18V (actually closer to 20V on full charge) should be no problem. IF there is the driver. The last batch I received had no driver.
