I went to a store selling stuff from China this morning and I found a Chinese version 2AA mini Maglite for an unbelievable price…only 90 cents

We all think the lights we buy comes with free shipping, but let’s no kid ourselves, the shipping costs are built into the price. Thisk about it, we are paying someone to actually hand deliver them right up to our door. For really cheap prices, who can beat massive quantities off loaded to retail stores that know how to move lots of product with cheap prices and an efficient supply chain.
And they even entice the customer to deliver the products to their own homes 
I look at a SRK and say to myself that if it was in the mainstream retail channels, it could sell for as little as $15-20 retail.

You also have to keep in mind that you’re paying for ‘free shipping’ in another way - TIME. Why do you think it takes a month (or more) to get something you ordered on Kaidomain, Deal Extreme, etc? Because they’re using the cheapest possible shipping they can get. That’s why stuff just sits and sits and sits for weeks in Hong Kong before being shipped to you. Other packages that people payed more to ship take priority. And yours doesn’t go unless it doesn’t take the place of a package that someone paid more to ship.
When looked at this way, free shipping looks a whole lot less amazing. I don’t know about anyone else. But talking about all of this makes driving to an actual store and having my item in my hands THAT DAY look a whole lot better.
Remember when DELL computer revolutionized the computer industry by building to order. They didn’t even have the parts on hand until the computer was sold.
I remember reading once that high tech depreciates by 1% a week. That means that top of the line stuff will be worth only half as much 1 year later. We aren’t talking about used stuff, just 1 year old tech. If it takes 2 months to get your light, it is already worth 8% less than when it was paid for.

Still damn cheap for an aluminium host flashlight and it feel heavy in the hand just like a real mini maglite :bigsmile: and i’m buying it as a host for a modding project…might buy few more to put in my kid rooms so that they don’t disturb daddy flashlights

Ive got one of this I believe (left to the blue light).
Right to the blue light is LED Mini Maglite (led), and right to that is incandesent Mini Maglite (rebuilt to LED).
The "China" light is a light I got with a magazine some years ago. Light output is just like incan. mini maglite. Build quality is not that good. Nor is it anywhere near as mod friendly as a Maglite. The plastic lens is just pressed in and glued. You can not unscrew the front of the head like in a maglite. Which makes it way less mod friendly.
Tail is cheaper too. Fitment when turning the light on/off is not that great either. Its a bit loose (maybe it just needs a larger O-ring)
All in all. It may look fairly similar to a Maglite, but its in a lower league for sure.
Only one problem with that is this torch sure ain’t HiTec. :bigsmile:
Have no idea how much it cost but i saw only about 7 of them on the shelf and i plan to buy another 2 for my kids
Yes that is the one and planning to disassemble it tonight…so it is less mod friendly
