Two solarstorm X2 bicycle lights off one battery?

So i want to know can i run two solarstorm X2 xm l2 bicycle lights, from one 6x18650 8400Mah battery pack. Oh and i will be using a Y/splitter cable from the battery pack to the lights. Cheers.

Y splitter, yes it will work, but that will give you the voltage of one pack though, and half the amps to work from, and quite possibly alot less than half the running time from heat loss and other factors. Plus it will shorten the battery pack life quite considerably from the strain of supplying two lights. So not really worth it.

I had an idea this would be the case, not a very efficient set up, so basically to much strain on a 6x18650 battery pack for these two lights together.
Goin to stick with there own 4x18650 dedicated battery pack, just thought i would get a second opinion, thanks for your input.

don’t x2 only pull ~2a. 4a across a 2s3p pack is like 1.33a per cell. If wiring is of correct thickness shouldn’t losses be small when compared to using 2x 2s2p

Erm….not sure if i should order two 4x18650 battery packs, or one 6x18650 battery pack.
Or should i be looking to order a 8x18650 pack?

are you buying premade pack or holders for using 18650. Many or most of the premade packs have horrible (eg ultrafire quality) cells inside. You likely would be better off with a 4x pack of quality cells vs 8x pack of china cells

I am only looking at premade ready to go packs atm, i have found a supplier, on ebay for both 4x and 6x packs, he has 100% feed back with alot of praise from buyers for the high capacity packs he is selling.

I’d look at lipo/hobby packs if you’re driving lights that have a voltage range above one lithium rechargeable cell (7.4 or 11.1v) since they will be able to handle the draw for sure (most can put at least 20 amps continuous) and are easier and safer to charge than most Lions since they should have a tap that can be used for balance charging on hobby chargers.

Just to throw that out there; I’m not a big fan of lions generally, but I use them for lights for the convent form factor.

You can get them in just about any imaginable form factor as well. Lots of options realistically, there may be less run time however the reduced weight should make mounting larger packs less of an issue.
