I thought about making it brighter, but to be honest I love the way it is. If I had to guess, I would say it’s about 80 lumens. It reminds me of the old incan 6P; just better runtime, more modes, a bulb that won’t burn out, and cheaper. I love the high CRI too. Brighter isn’t always better. With this current heat isn’t really a concern either.
To each their own. If I want bright, I have other lights for that. 8)
Great photos Kicken. Thank you for the time and effort. That poor Nichia isn't really on fair ground being driven so mild. You may want to try quadrupling the current. It can take it comfortably even if its on aluminum. Copper would give you more light though. I think you will like it. I agree about to each their own though. Not trying to shame you here.
If I may ask, which light, color rendition wise, seems to be the closest to natural light to you in real life?
For me its the Nichia, but I really like the MT-G2 for some reason that doesn't seem to hold up to intellectual scrutiny.
of all the lights of have owned, I really think the mt-g2 is one of the best tints; the nichia is a close second. another reason I kept the nichia so dim was because that is my wife’s nightstand light. If I make one for myself Ill give it some more juice.
Thanks for the pictures:-) I find the picture with the mt-g2 the nicest tint, but perhaps the Nichia would win if the exposure would have been a bit longer.
It makes think back to when I was in my 20’s. Back then, concerning cars, the questions were always “what’s the 1/4 mile ETA?” or “what’s the 0 to 60?” As I got older, the questions changed to “what’s the MPG?”
BLF seems to be performance oriented, but there is something to be said for runtime.
But then again, what fun is there in THAT? That is too practical!
