Recommend a proper USB wall charger

I am planning on purchasing a XTAR MC1 charger which needs usb power. I need recommendation for a proper USB wall charger from a US seller. If it can be used to charge an Iphone it would be great added bonus.

I’ve had a very difficult time searching using my phone. Can anyone please point me in the right direction.

Did you want to charge the iphone at the same time (two usb ports)?
Belkin Single USB Charger with Rotating Plug 2.1 Amp $15 shipped. Go for a major brand name sold by a major retailer. There are a lot of junk & counterfeit chargers out there.

Is the one i bought, and that is Only because of a full test & review of the power usage of the device from HKJ USB Power Supply #4 Ioncell is the one to read

I wanted to recommend that one too due to HKJ’s tests but OP asked for a US seller.

I know mate, i just didn’t want to recommend one that i haven’t used, but i thought a great option is better than none.

Yea, it is a good one. 4 ports, over 2 amps & a good price.

+1 to the HKJ recommended one, but I’ve got one of these and it charges an iphone happily. (Bit bulky and not super-cheap, but…)

+2 +1 to the HKJ recommended one,

I have been using it since last summer and it’s the one I’d recommend due to the safety and the >2A output.

I have that Ioncell charger and a Powergen 3.1A 2 port USB charger. I bought the Ioncell first. It had something lose rattling inside, and although it worked, I had it exchanged. That was with Fasttech. Later on I bought the Powergen from Amazon for a trip because I wanted something that should be higher quality and have a legit UL certification. The trip didn't happen, and I only used the Powergen a couple times until yesterday when I pulled it out and found that it didn't work. I went back to the Amazon reviews, and it seems this product isn't in the UL database? BS UL certification? I'm waiting to hear back from Powergen about getting a warranty replacement.

With the ioncell rated at 2a single port, is it safe to charge say iphone, usb phone or other usb devices…i know my iPad is a 2a. I don’t understand it lol appreciate some clarification.

Its safe to charge devices that need less then 2A. They will take only what they need. The current (2A here) is not forced upon a device. Iphone, other usb devices or phones are all fine.

From HKJ’s tests, pluging in too many devices that want a lot of amps could kill the ioncell. Shouldn’t harm the devices you have pluged into it tho. It died at 3.3Amps. I would keep it under 2.5A. For example you can charge one ipad or other tablet but don’t plug anything else in. OR charge two smartphones. OR three dumb phones. You could look up online how much current your phone or tablet wants. Tho some devices may limit their own current draw when the ioncell start struggling resulting in it being fine even if overloaded.

Thanks, yes that makes perfect sense. HKJ’s test was a good eye opener how rubbish the cheap usb ps are.

When I’m charging my Tablet I usually unplug everything else, but I only did that so it would charge faster: I had not noticed that in the test, thanks for pointing it out, that’s a good head’s up!

Thank you for all your suggestions. I am going to purchase one from a US seller which hopefully will arrive soon and another one for long term use from IOS.

I am glad I asked for advice. You guys are awesome!!

I didn’t want to risk getting a fake Ioncell so got a genuine YooPoo charger instead.

And how is that “genuine YooPoo” charger working out for you?
Could have got a pink one you know.

Seller has other plug adapters. :stuck_out_tongue:

I didn’t know they were available in pink! It’s working very well.

You seriously got a yoopoo charger? Thought you were trolling!
Are there tests somewhere on yoopoo chargers?

I note that Chloe’s is a 4 port/2A model, the Pink one appears to pack a bit more punch.

I see that XTAR MC1 charger has a mirco USB charger connection. I bought this Xentris from Amazon based on low price with good reviews. Seems well made, rated 2.1A, and is working fine charging up my ENB power bank. I also bought this Xentris 12v micro USB charger, but haven't used it yet. Note that both have additional USB ports for a 2nd connection.
