USB Charger with Batteries for GPS Unit

Hello :

This is my first message in this forum so i want to congratulate for this great forum.

I have a GPS Unit with internal battery (Garmin Edge 800). On March i have prepared a track about 18 hours, and the autonomy for GPS Unit is 10 hours about. My GPS Units charging with 5v, from computer USB or wall charger.

For this reason I would like to get a USB charger for batteries 18650 (i have 2x Panasonic 18650 3400 mAh), and so I would charge the GPS Unit while cycling with lossing datas.

Please, i am grateful to you if advise to me for a good device for this.

These are the options that i have seen :
Option 1 : http://www.fasttech.com/products/1421/10002784/1535101
Option 2 : http://www.fasttech.com/products/1421/10002784/1535100
Option 3 : http://www.fasttech.com/products/1421/10002784/1381305

Option 4 : http://www.fasttech.com/products/1421/10001919/1137904
Option 5 : http://www.fasttech.com/products/1421/10001919/1158900

At moment, I likes Option 1, but i don’t know if it is the best option.

Note : I don’t need charge 18650 batteries because i have NiteCore Charger.

Very thanks you beforehand.

Rafael.

I would go for option 3, I have one of those ENB-Tri power bank, and it works very well with panny 3400s. Does everything I want of it.

And should do what you want to do with it.

I also like option 3. And because it is easy to take the cells in and out, you could also use it as a charger.

Thanks for your answers.

I have only 2 batteries 18650. That’s a little problem.

Do you think that Option 1 (with 2 batteries) will be enough for charging the GPS Unit ??

Thanks.

Option 3 will also work with only 2 cells

I can't find it yet, but I think I read in some of the FastTech discussions or Reviews where the 2x ENB box won't take Protected 18650s. I also have the triple-cell ENB charger from FastTech (The model with the 5mm LED instead of the Cree). I've only had it since last week though and can't comment on using it yet. I used it to charge my mini Android tablet and it seemed to work well for that. Yes, it will work from two cells, but I would understand wanting to minimize size for biking...

I have the ENB 3 cell but with the added Q5 flashlight. Working great! I've used it to charge the cells and that has worked well. It will work on 1 or 2 cells and will take protected batteries. I too also remember the 2 cell versions only working with unprotected cells.

Check out HKJ's reviews of usb battery boxes. Some of them don't fair so well.

Thank you very much to all.

Helios, i’ve just read those reviews, a excellent information. Take this when deciding. Thanks.

In fact, i would like to minimize size for biking.
Anybody has used the model for the Option 1 (only two cells) ??
