35A purple Efest IMR 18650 batteries. Have you seen theese???

Hi all,

Did anyone else get this email? Here is the best info I can find on them.

Here are the new Efest batteries that everyone has been talking about. The new 35A / 2500mAH 18650. These are 5A and 400mAh higher than the Sony v4's and the original purple Efest batteries. Currently one of the best mah to amp ratios your going to find.

THE HARD COPY:

  • Manufacturer: Efest
  • Size: 18650
  • Model: Efest 18650 P35A
  • Type: Li-Mn (High Drain)
  • Rated Capacity: 2500mAh

Has anyone laid hold of these yet? The email I got also said that 18500 and 18350s would be coming soon.

I have some on the way...seems too good to be true but we will see.

Answering the musical question - What does it take to kill an MT-G2?

Hmm . . . curious to see some testing on these!

I don't think you can kill one direct drive (2S)... from what I've seen they can take over 10 amps and keep on kicking. You would need one beefy buck or boost driver to do it (with sufficient thermal support!)

From 2 li-ion cells the voltage isn’t high enough to kill it. Maybe with 3 or 4 good cells, direct drive might kill it. I have tried 3 Panasonic NCR 18650 2900mah and that didn’t kill it, there not high current cells though. With 3 20r’s it might be a different story.

FYI.

3 Sanyo IMR 1600 mAh cells batts hit it hard enough that it will be forever blue. But it also killed my DMM. I replaced the fuses but now it reads all kind of wonky figures when I try to read amps. That was in <2s time BTW.

Have anyone tested these cells yet? The vaping community is buying everything up. The specs seem too good to be true. Does Efest actually make the cell, or just re-badges someone else. I’m sure they’ll be back in stock soon, but to get crazy high current and capacity in the same cell?? Doesn’t that violate some law of thermodynamics or something? Ha!

Cheers

The 35A rating they're advertising is most likely pulse not continuous. The closest cell to the listed specs is an 18650 LG HE2 2500mAh. Those are rated for 20A continuous discharge which we confirmed on our test rig.

I'm guessing that the current rating is overstated. I don't believe that it can support a 35A continuous discharge and still have 2500mAh capacity. Maybe 35A momentarily, but not 35A continuous (not that any of our lights pull that much current anyways). I also don't believe they are manufacturing this cell, but I cut the wrapper off of one and couldn't find any markings. I would need another cell to compare it to to know for sure if it is the same.

Suggested internal cells have been the LG HE1 and Samsung 25R, but nobody knows for sure yet.

That said, so far in testing it is a good cell and it comes close to the 20R discharge capability while supposedly providing more capacity (which has not yet been verified). Efest is out of the cell at the supply level currently.

Out of stock.
