Nitecore ea4 AND ea8 switch problems.......

the rubber cover on my ea4 totally exploded, so being a cheapie I just put a smooch of shoe goo over the hole and that worked quite well.

Onto the ea8,………button has become bloated enough to drive me crazy!! so I try to dis-assemble and use an existing rubber boot.

so far I have gotten the bezel off and pulled out enough guts to get down to LED and heatsink, but I am stopped dead in my tracks there. For fear of breaking a defective 100$ light I am going to put it back together to use the cheapo silicon rtv caulk or shoe goo, just whatever I can find really.

anyone had this problem with either EA lights

the ea4 teardown I saw recommended pushing on the back of the fixture through the battery tube with a socket extension, tried that with the ea8 and am afraid it may be built differently and I will break it.

okok enough pressure got it out…

good and bad…. got it back together. but the replacement boot from my streamlight microstream/stylus pro was too shallow SOO back to square one.

yes got everything back together and light is still werking (YESSS!!) but the clicky rubber boot is still defective….sigh.

any thoughts? suggestions?

This was a common problem with the early lights. This link may have the information your after.

I think this was the replacment switch for the 2 fasttech EA4 clones. (not 100% sure)
