Anything better than the Jetbeam BA10 (Klarus P1A) out there for the money?

My boss has started to get hooked on quality budget lights. I got him a JB BA10 and then he had me order 3 more to give away. Now he wants a few more. It seems like forever since I got my first one (Klarus P1A but same light). I remember how impressed I was but in the two years or so since I got it, there must be something better for the money.

Here are the features that it MUST have:

  1. Single mode (or multiple with twist like the Jetbeam) for simplicity.

2. Be able to run on alkaline or 14500

3. 1AA

4. Clip

5. Forward clicky

6. Equal or better build quality and reliability. None of the 7-8 lights we have owned has experienced any malfunctions of any type.

7. Equal or better grip texture. Can not be slippery in the hand.

8. $25 deliver or less

9. Equal or better brightness with comparable runtimes.

10. Can not be significantly larger in any dimension.

There you have it gentlemen, you are the experts, what is out there that meets these requirements?

I’d stick with the BA10. You might find the Nitecore MT1A interesting but it has more modes. The Fenix E12 is a neat little light but it’s multi-mode and a reverse clicky. But it’s about half the size of the BA10 and built just as well. There’s a couple solid reverse clickies in the $40 range like the EagleTac D25A or the Thrunite T10S but you have a very narrow set of requirements, so why not keep it simple as they say.

I also own a BA10 but my favorite AA forward clicky lights are the V11R and SRT3 with the AA extenders. The V11R is so simple it can almost be considered a single mode light. Mine has taken a considerable amount of abuse. Way outside your price range, though.

Any others?

I have to agree with Racer.

Stick with the BA10, as it’s practically the only flashlight that’ll fit your query.

I did an identical search a few months ago, no luck, i ended up buying the P1A

There are other lights that are fine but nothing better, something like a Romisen RC G2 from shiningbeam is good but its less brightness and not constant current (dims as battery discharges). You can consider a Crelant V11 but its probably the same idea as the P1A, probably less lumens then advertised (if my V21a is any indication) and if its as good i doubt it will be better (and it may be headcap only open like my V21 (it was about 4 months ago i searched so details are a bit hazy)
