Test/Review of Keeppower IMR18650 2100mAh (Black) 2014

Keeppower IMR18650 2100mAh (Black) 2014

Official specifications:

  • Min Capacity: 2000mAh
  • Typical Capacity: 2100mAh
  • Normal Voltage: 3.6V/3.7V
  • Quality Lithium Ion rechargeable cell made in Japan
  • Cell: Made in Japan
  • Maximum Constant Discharge Current: 30A
  • 4.2 volts max voltage and 3.6-3.7 volts nominal voltage
  • Button top: Yes
  • Dimension: (D)18.50mm*(H)66.50mm
  • Weight: Max. 48.0g

This is a 30A cell, this is a very high current. Cells with this amount of power has to be handled carefully, not because they can explode (They can, but it is very difficult to provoke it), but simply because of the power they can deliver.

Up to 20A the cell has about the same capacity, at higher load the capacity drops. This is very impressive performance.

The cell can be emptied in less than 5 minutes, without any damage to the cell.

Conclusion

This is a very good high power cell, but it requires careful handling due to the maximum power.
This type of cell is fine for (powerful) drills, but you need a very special flashlight or a you are a "crazy" vapor to need this cell.

Nice. How do these cells compare to the Panasonic cells of the same power ratings?

I have no idea, give me a link where I can get the Panasonic cell and I might have an answer in a month or two.

I try to list the raw cells I have tested here: http://lygte-info.dk/review/batteries2012/batteryIndexUnprotected%20UK.html

I do only include cells where I have the specification on what is used, guesses cannot be used.

If a cell is missing, please tell me (Including a link where I can get it) and I will see if I can fix it (It might take a couple of months).

When I made the list I probably missed a couple of cells that I have tested, if somebody spots one, please send a PM.

Thanks for the review.
