Are you up for an SK98? Basically the same, but sized for an 18650.

I like the SK68’s too, but the quality is a lottery even from the same vendor (hollow pill? solid? etc), and the driver diameter is too small to take commodity parts.

If you are interested in an SK98:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/YUPARD-Mini-12W-1800LM-CREE-XML-XM-L-T6-LED-Adjustable-Zoomable-Flashlight-Lamp-Light-Torch/1389655076.html

This was the listing that a lot of us picked up during the spring sale for ~$8.50 iirc.. (My only order in the last ~6 weeks!).

Mine arrived today, High – Low – Strobe. Starts in high. XML2, clean threads clean build.

Pulls a solid 3A from unprotected Panasonic NCR18650B 3400mAh, and a decent 2.6A from some old laptop pulls.

My only complaint is the silly metal ring used for the zoom friction, but thankfully that is a very simple fix.

Nice not bad at all

I got a SH98 from fasttech for $9.09
Same as above but XM-L, it had the next mode memory but easily fixable with the pencil lead on the capacitor mod

I have subsequently rebuilt it…using at first a 20mm TexasPyro Nanjg 8*7135 rebuild from OSHPark but managed to kill it somehow (worked GREAT for about 3 months) and further builds with empty brand spankign new from digikey Attiny 13’s won’t flash…so ended up getting the 20mm adapter boards, putting a regular 8*7135 Nanjg driver flashed with STAR V1.1 firmware with reverse static build (hi>lo memory off) and reflowing a T6-4C to copper 20mm sinkpad and then siliconing it into the pill…now it runs like a champ with 5 levels (turbo w/ 2 minute fallback, high, med, low, moonlight) from high to moonlight
