DX seems to be a little different lately. I don't know if it's better or worse but it seems different.

It used to take anywhere from a few days to a week or so to get any kind of response from CSE. Now when I asked about an ordered that was shipped (but hasn't arrived) 30 days ago I got a response within an hour.

It isn't exactly a canned response although it's not particularly meaningful..."bla,bla,bla...You great understanding will be good appreciate. Thank you for your understanding and patience."

Their time from order to shipping on some things seems to have improved as well. However the shipping time seems to be much longer. It used to be around two weeks for me and now it's more like three or four.

I'm not sure anything much has really changed. Maybe they just tell you that your order has shipped when it's really not going to ship for another week?

At least the CSE response time is better but I'd rather not even know what CSE means Smile

Is your paypal funded with credit/debit card? You can always ask for a charge back.

I have bought several (4) I think orders from DealExtreme and I always got what I ordered. That said, sometimes it took a long time to get those things, so I would only suggest using them for hobby lights or stuff for yourself. If you have any sort of timeframe that you need to keep in mind, like if you needed it for an upcoming trip, or if you are buying something for a gift, I'd not rely on them.

+1

Three orders with DX so far, two of them for multiple items.  All good, all arrived within 3 weeks. So not the fastest, but WAY better than my experiences with DD. But that's a whole other saga.. Also like the fact that "DealExtreme" comes up as such in Paypal history, rather than some strange name I've never heard of. Also shows a list of the actual items bought, not just transaction codes. Makes it MUCH easier to check back.

Four orders with KD, two were fine, the other two I never received. Checked out items via Paypal, seemed as usual, eventually found out I wasn't actually billed. Nothing to tell me that fact at the time. Had to trawl through Paypal history. Bit of a mystery. Also having major probs with links to their website.

Bottom line: DX currently one of my first choices provided no urgency, but maybe I've been lucky..

First time ordering from DX. Paid 25 Nov and status is still processing (5 Dec). Filed an inquiry request and no response yet. Their live chat support is always unavailable.

I am giving them another shot. My first order from them, was a trustfire x8 flashlight, but it never shipped after about 2 weeks so i canceled it and got my money back. Since then, I have avoided them, because I cannot stand to wait, especially when the site says the item is in stock. So after that first failed attempt to buy something from them several months ago, I gave them another shot and ordered a pair of 14500 batteries. If they can't ship those out within 2 days, then I will not use Deal extreme ever again. I can order from ebay sellers and they always at least get it in the mail system quickly. I understand the transit time from China to the U.S., but at least get the item in the mail.

DX seems to have upgraded their system. Surf to my.dealextreme.com and you will see!

they include photos of the stuff before it's packaged, amazing!

i've ordered a clamp, and that's how my package content exactly looks like (and i can even confirm that the name and address on the invoice is mine, hehe):

Great job, DX!!! Extremely professional.

I like the new system and the pictures of the item, though it doesn't always work. For me, DX is the same old same old. I placed an order for one item and it shipped in a couple of days, arrived in 3-4 weeks (okay for this time of year). Another order was a $2 flashlight mount for bikes, so I threw in a 10-pack of fauxton keychain lights. Both said ship in 3-5 days. Wait a week, nothing. Eventually I cancelled the order and placed an order for the bike mount only. It shipped in a couple of days. But after a week I still had to request a refund for the cancelled order because they didn't do that on their own. They took care of it, but it's just such a pain.

Guess I haven't gotten burned yet. My order took 14 days to arrive at my home in Texas. Can't complain as the packaging was great and everything worked as advertised. I e-mailed them 2 days after the odred to ask when it would ship and it shipped that same day, so all in all 10 days to get to the US.

I just ordered again today, so I will see how they do at this time of year, though it won't be their fault if airmail is slow right now.

Ok, the batteries I order from DX just shipped today. So it took 4 days to ship two 14500 batteries. This is a little slow, but at least they shipped something this time. But still, I wish there was a better place(more efficient) to order from. Sometimes dx is the only place that has something listed. It's just their stock status is undependable, so you order something from them and waste precious time waiting on them to ship, and often, they don't ship it. I'd rather pay a little more and get what I order more reliably. They need to hire more help, I think.

I have had really good luck with this place.

I have ordered multiple ultrafire lights, a couple sipiks, some other generic models, misc batteries, and have only had one QC issue on one generic light.  Supposedly they have a credit for me on it but I haven't figured out how to get it (my email provider blocks their emails for some reason.)

All in all, I really like DX, and find the reviews on the site to be helpful.  Do expect long lead times, especially as we get closer to the Chinese new year!!

Won't do business with DX again. Terrible customer service and wouldn't give me a refund on a cancelled order even though their email said they did process the refund. Did a chargeback with no problem. They are now flagged as fraudulent in Chase banks database.

I agree, DealExtreme is pretty awful. The only thing they haven't done to merit an AVOID rating is post spam and shill posts.

stamped: 2011-12-11 (the actual date on the postal stamp/sticker)

Happy DX customer? hmmm. there is DX stuff which i had ordered on 2011-12-03 and which has not reached me yet (and it was splitted by them due to 1 back-ordered item: still not available, the liquid lube oil)

sorry to hear. crossing fingers for your and my remaining 4 DX consignments. fortunately those 4 orders dont contain anything too valuable, only DIY parts (Unprotected 10440's, Protected 10440's, Lube Silicone Oil, AAA-to-AA battery converter cases,..).

I know it's silly to order this cheap little thing (which i could find locally too) from China, with all the waiting and stuff. The point here is, i forgot to include it in my original 2011-12-03 order (which was splitted afterwards anyway). Happy DX customer? hmmm. there is DX stuff which i had ordered on 2011-12-03 and which has not reached me yet (and it was splitted by them due to 1 back-ordered item: still not available, the liquid lube oil).

It's been 43 days since I paid and order has not arrived. Called the post office, nothing. I opened a case two days ago and they replied just now asking me to wait more. Laughing

Now I've read here it's best not to file dispute, is that right?

Oh man, I have one order on backorder status for almost 2 month, Now Im afraid Ill lose money on it (more than 30$).

I didnt yet asked for refund, or cancellation of order. Oh boy No help from Paypal now because its more than 2 months now.

Because I think Croatian banks does not protect you against such things...

onPS: And they've already scammed me (really, pure scam) for one refund. I received mail from them about confirming that they gave me refund, similar to paypal emails, and I was somnaive to close paypal dispute. And bye bye refund...

So you never actually received the refund? Did you follow it up with them?

What a bunch of CHINESE Crooks!

Placed order in early November, never shipped, missed Christmas, cancelled order on January 10th.

Dealextreme won't refund my USD 56.30.

Won't respond to support requests. Crooks. Frauds.

DealExtreme tried to do the same thing to me so I believe they truly are crooks.  I cancelled a backordered flashlight.  DX said that they would issue a refund, but never did.

The way to not getting ripped off is to file a dispute with PayPal within 45 days of ordering your merchandise.  After filing a dispute you have 20 days to escalate it to a claim; that's what I have to do.  I got my refund, but I think it always takes longer than it should.

One thing DX used to do is send a message that "you have received a PayPal refund" when if fact you haven't.  I don't know if they still try that fraudulent trick anymore.  If they try that on you, escalate to a claim immediately (due to fraud.)

i've cancelled a item from an order because it was unshipped: silicone lube oil for flashlights, 2.00US$. Havent received the first part of the splitted order yet (already 4.0 weeks in transit. should arrive this week, fingers crossed!).

In this case, because it's 2bucks only, i am very willing *not* to file a paypal dispute or claim (since i've never done it before and ..etc..) but just let it go and save my nerves and energies. It's marked on my spreadsheet hardcopy anyway, so i wouldnt forget. See my sig, there's still enough in transit .. and only after some 45 days would i drop them a note that they s*ck.

But i give them this chance, this time. It's a 2bucks thing only. Refund request for unshipped item. Very simple case.

If they cant get it right, i would let you BFL folks now. Reporting good and bad news on the forum, like sharing *any kind of news* related to flashlights is big part of the fun, especially on BFL. On other FL forums, you cant bash or criticize dealers, sellers or manufacturers. So where's the point?

Here's the point:  I don't care what you bought or where you bought it from; if things go south, file a dispute with PayPal.  (Unless you want to get ripped off.)

And, if you get ripped off or not, it feels really good to b*tch about fraudulent companies.  A company that lets you cancel an order, but does not issue a refund, is fraudulent in my book.

oops misunderstanding. i meant, where's the point of a forum where the users cannot criticize a seller? -- Here on BFL, we are allowed to do so, so i do it, you do it, we do it, and it feels all good and natural. Like a public open uncensored forum.

i dont see much point of other flashlight forums where retail customers, dealers, sellers, distributors, and manufacturers *uck up to each other and where criticism (and posting of best deal's links of specifically Ch*nese etailers DX, DD, ..) is rewarded with deletion of posts without notification, comment, warning or discussion and eventually is followed by permanent ban.

Has any of you ever got an e-mail from DX recently with the subject 'Order Received, Awaiting Payment Confirmation,' after ordering by credit card?  In the e-mail, it even has instructions below:

pay now1. Click this button to log in to My Orders.
2. Select the order you want to pay for.
3. Click the "Return to Checkout" button under Payment Method.
You can then finish paying with PayPal or select another payment method

However, when I click on it, it shows on their website that the Payment Result for this order was 'success,' already.  I have tried to contact DX using their online chat but nobody ever answers.  Do I have to worry about my order?

BTW, I also noticed that their order # just got a lot longer than a previous order.  It looks like they might have changed their ordering system recently.
