To be fair, I have to say that everything I've ordered from DX has - eventually - arrived and worked properly (more or less). But I've read enough negative DX experiences in this thread alone to realise that I've been lucky with them, just like others seem to have been with DD. I'm not one of those, and I can't see myself using DD ever again.
As for DX, the looong wait, coupled with so much uncertainty, means that from now on I'll only order from them items that (1) I can't find anywhere else (2) I'm not in a hurry for, and (3) Are cheap enough that losing the money wouldn't matter. And I mean cheap to start with, not just a bit cheaper at DX. Like others, I'd rather pay more for faster, reliable service. If that sounds harsh after my opening comment, I mean reliable as in getting order/shipping confirmation emails, getting my own emails replied to, not having to wait 6 or 7 weeks for an item that I wasn't told would be back-ordered, etc etc..
Does DX's live help actually work? i have been trying to get through to them for 3 days. Today I sat there waiting for 45 mins, whilst a message kept popping up on screen, saying something like 'get lost, we're busy talking to other idiots'.
Strange CS system.

It is said that the items shipping from far east all have long delivery shipping time. That troubles us a lot. They already set up some oversea warehouse. But that just in US,UK,AU. We don't know if the situation can improve if they establish more warehouse.
Heard from my friends, the items bought from other far east shopping website have same shipping trouble.
I have cancelled the last couple of orders from DX because they didn't ship after a week. I ordered some 14500's from them. One week of "payment confirmed" and now another week of "preparing shipment".
I'm ready to give DX the AVOID label. Maybe I'll do a poll . . .
I'm not sure what has happened at DX? They were always slow shipping and had the occasional DOA bu not shipping lights before the Paypal 45 day mark is a joke.
I have read some comments here, and seems like I have the same problems that most of you have experienced. I have ordered at 30th March and until now it's still showing "Prepared shipment". When will they ship my damn items?!
I tried to contact them, but found that their communication system is extremely troublesome to use. Does anyone of you know how to contact DX regarding my unshipped items?
EDIT: I never used Paypal before, and I think I am going to use it since it does protect buyers in some aspect.
If you are unhappy with a purchase that you've made through Paypal, and the seller is reluctant to resolve the issue or even to communicate, you have the option to 'Open A Dispute' with the seller, using the built-in Paypal system. The commonest reasons for such action are that either the buyer hasn't received the item, or that the item didn't work, or was broken/damaged when it did arrive.
The Paypal system is very straightforward to use, but you must lodge your dispute within 45 days of having made your payment. This, as edc says, usually prompts the seller to respond to you very quickly. You will then have a further 20 days in which to reach a satisfactory resolution with the seller at the end of which period (or sooner, if you wish) you may escalate your dispute to a 'Claim'. If things get that far, which they usually don't, Paypal will arbitrate the case and decide in favour of either the buyer or the seller. In cases of items not received, AFAIK Paypal will usually find for the buyer, since the seller has to prove that an item was delivered, whereas the buyer merely has to claim that it wasn't.
A second week of "preparing shipment" for a pair of 14500 batteries. DX is so lame right now. I kind of doubt I can cancel now that it is in the packaging stage, but I'm okay with waiting and using a PayPal dispute, which in another week will be inevitable (assuming 3 weeks to get here and it hasn't shipped in 4 weeks). I'm in no rush for the batteries and it is only $5.50.
Follow-up: still hadn't shipped on the 18th, almost 3 weeks from ordering. I cancelled the order and DX refunded my money within a few hours. They're good at refunds, not so good at shipping products.
You can cancel the order online, but you have to deal with customer service to actually get your money back. I've found they are pretty helpful on that at least.
3 of 3 orders so far with DX (better delivery percentage than DD :p). They even shipped the Mini Pig 2 LEDs Flashlight I had ordered although their discount system was not functioning as intended.
The "Prepare Shipment" stage can take up to a week even if they have the items in stock, so that might be a bit slow compared to some other places.
There seems to be a number of negativity against DX. But I have to add, that I'm quite impressed so far. My order even arrived quicker then my order from intl-outdoor.

I think I am giving up with DX, please check the post I opened in the DX forum to figure it out..
http://club.dealextreme.com/forums/Forums.dx/threadid.1124715
I opened ticket 8.2.. They respond today
ARG!!! just wanted to vent. oh and it only took an hour wait time on live chat just now.
ALL YOUR LUMEN ARE BELONG TO US.
I will cut of my hands before I order from DX again. They told paypal they shipped my order when it clearly shows they didn't.
I give up. 7 items = 1 dispute, 1 claim, 3 unprocessed still after 2 months, 1 shipped OK, 1 shipped DOA!
Is it this hard to run a business, DX? 1 good shipment out of 7 is pretty horrible record by any standard, no matter how cheap you are.
Yeah I gave up too .. activating my cards purchase protection.
ALL YOUR LUMEN ARE BELONG TO US.

Several days ago, i see a video about them.

hope they really do this.
I enjoy swimming in the ocean of the budgetlightforum, handed in here, and I hope the you have the same hobby.
Dealextreme is glad to inform me, that my item has been shipped now.
Thas what I got today in my email account.
The problem: I didn't know, what I ordered. So I had to look it up.
It is a batterycase that I ordered LAST YEAR!!!
Never again..

I have not receive the magnets that I order from DX back in February! |(
Prisoner 6-2-7
Maybe your package is stuck to the inside of a mailbox somewhere?
I ordered an item mid-February and only got shipped on March 30. Until they shape up, I'm not buying anything from them again.
horrible shipping, one item isn't even shipped after 1 month...
They shipped my last two cheap-o orders about a week after placing the order. One registered, one regular. Lets see..

By how?

Ah I just ordedered from them yesterday cos I was going to save less than $1 instead of ordering from goodluckbuy.
Whats the quickest way to cancel the order?
I went to my account and clicked cancel, no refund and no store credit.
Looks like I'll have to use their crappy contact system.

Well, 3 days to go to 45 day limit. Got my order but parts were missing.
Opened a claim on it, let´s see if I get my money or stuff back...
I have been lately ordering just ONE item (pop-lite headlamps) from DX but it now seems I should find another supplier for them also.
Everything else already comes from various other places.
They are slow and do not honor the deal (they just refunded a mispriced item after 1 month...), will never ever deal with them again...
Finally my batterycases arrived!
Took 138 days.
I will NEVER order there again!
