So i had this mini mag for a long time and i wanted to dedome it, not knowing rebbel leds dont really like to be dedomed. I soaked the led in gasoline and took of the dome with all its phosphor.
The light turned really blue and ugly so i took it appart with the idea op putting a XP-G2 R5 in it.
So i began and i think it turned out okay.
i decided to keep the stock reflector, this would make it a lot simpler. that way i did not have to place the LED higher in the body.
the driver used is a boost driver i got from FastTech.
i used the housing where the rebbel led and its driver was fitted and made a heatsink out of it.
being from europe, i used a 20cent coin as it is made out of 89% copper to make a base for the led and also to fill he inside with the scrap i had from cutting the coin.
Also copper braid was used to fill it up a little more and soldered it all together.
the copper wire is used as a ground wire for the driver.
i also had to cut a slit for the wires to pass through.
driver installed.
the 16mm led board had to be cut down to fit on the new heatsink.
the module installed in the host.
i centered the led as well as possible.
the driver is PWM but it is not really possible to see with the naked eye.
the nex thing i have to do now is buy a tailswitch, the only way to turn the light off now it by losening the tailcap.
i hope you enjoyed my mod. its not the best but its an upgrade and i had fun doing it.
Grtz
