COAST HP1 $9.99 @ Amazon

I placed this on the deal alert page but I wanted to see if anyone has one? I thought they might be good gifts with a 14500 battery.

I ordered two, figured I'd give them away, and at $10 they are no big deal.

The lights are surprisingly well made for the price, definitely superior to similar under $10 chinese flashlights. Finish is not to the same level as premium lights (fenix, zebralight) but I think it will hold up ok.

Threads feel smooth, not quite triangular cut, but ok. There is also an oring in the head of the light to provide some resistance to the zoom. I don't know if I would consider the light water proof, but it should be fine to use in rain. Of course uses a plastic lens, no surprise there.

It is a brighter on a 14500, but not really anything special... should be kept and used as a AA light.

I just ordered another one today. I never liked the SK 68's but I do like this little light. I like the two battery option for a travel light.

I just ordered one of these.

From the pictures, it appears to be a relatively small 1xAA light. It’s not the smallest AA-size zoomie, but it’s not the largest either. It’s supposedly smaller and shorter than other coast/LED Lenser lights.

The main reason I ordered it, is it has nice styling and appears it might use an LED Lenser type optic instead of the simple aspheric lens found in most budget lights.

LED Lensers use an unusual optic that incorporates a TIR with small aspheric. The LED is mounted on a post that can retract fully into a pocket in the optic.

In a convetional zoomie using a standard aspheric lens, lumen output can drop by 50% or more when the light is cycled from flood to spot, due to much of the light being absorbed into the sides of the bezel. With LED Lenser’s unique optic (only found in LED Lensers, Poplite and Coast), lumen output remains largely the same regardless of zoom position.

Once it arrives I’ll see if I can mod it with a better driver and LED. Hoping it has more room inside for a driver than my Rustu XL-03.

I have one with an XP-L. I haven’t done it yet but it needs to be dedomed as it touches the lens when zoomed out. Also the bezel is glued on.

If it was free shipping to Italy, I would have bought one… :frowning:

Pretty decent light and you all say it has a TIR lens? Can the driver and emitters be easily modded?Oh yeah , thank you for the heads up !

I think the AA lensers are direct drive?

really to much for that small sucker…. :~

It will be interesting to see the optics. I hope it does have the LEDLenser optics. Ha ha! My wife has Amazon prime. I suppose the glue can at least be softened with acetone. It looks nice in the picture. I think I have seen Coast lights at Fry’s Electronics, but at higher prices.
So, is it a zoomy with spill?
The knurling looks good in the picture, but there should be some on the sliding head, as on the SK-58. The 58 has finer knurling on the head than on the body to help focus it.

This light does has TIR zoom exactly like LED lenser, but it’s also super hard to open up!

Thanks for good and bad news. I wonder if acetone or penetrating oil will damage the optics. I was told that acetone would damage polycarbonate but not the newer high refractive index plastic they use for eyeglasses. Alcohol also softens epoxy, and it only damages the anti-reflection coating on polycarbonate eye glasses.

Don’t think I’ll risk Acetone. I tried some once in an attempt to remove some super glue I got on a fresnel lens. It destroyed the lens.

Thinking I’ll just wrap the top and bottom of the bezel with rubber indoor stairway grip tape and then use pliers to try to muscle it apart.

If that doesn’t work I suppose it could be cooked in an oven or with a blowtorch to weaken the threadlocker, but that might damage the anodizing.

Mine should arrive Monday or Tuesday. I’ll take a look when it arrives.

That looks pretty cool. Do you think they are available in the UK anywhere?

I am converting my AA/14500 lights that I use 14500s in to BLF SK68 or Nanjg 105c drivers, because it would be so easy to run the lithium ion battery too far down with the boost driver.

I need to get some BLF SK68 drivers. Does anyone sell them pre-assembled?

Not that I have noticed, but I haven’t tried asking anyone. I have made my own, but not on the first try.

BLF SK68 drivers assembled

look up cereal_killer / killerlumens

Yes sir, you’re a lucky guy
