Confused? "960" Lumen Nitecore EA4 [Pic Added]

I just received a nice new Nitecore EA4. I thought the EA4 was only 860 lumen, and I cant find any trace of a 960 lumen version online. Anyone else have a 960 lumen EA4?

I'm not aware of any other EA4 that does 960 lumens aside from our original custom run with XM-L2 U2 LEDs with Nitecore. Regardless of that none of the packaging should indicate it was 960 lumens as opposed to 860, the light itself should say XM-L2 however.

Hmm?... Packaging looks legit. Both the packaging and instructions indicate XML2, 310m beam distance, 960 Lumens (turbo), 24,000cd.

Maybe Nitecore finally updated the EA4 to XM-L2, I never heard anything from my sales agent or their website.

Has anyone confirmed the Nitecore ANSI ratings? I have the EA4W and peak beam intensity is most definitely not the rated 20,000 candela.

Take a pic of the emitter, if it is an XM-L2 then nitecore must of updated them

Interesting. Where did you purchase it from?

I confirmed with Nitecore that they finally released an EA4 with an XM-L2 emitter separate from our initial run.

I the EA4W i bought 860 lumen bought from fast tech

My Sunwayman D40A’s are 980 lumens case of my Lumens larger than yours ?

Maybe it's a Nitecore EA41?

+1 to what Calvin said - the Ea4 with XML2 that illumination supply sold back in 2012/13 was around 960 lumens. Nitecore has been updating their explorer series to XML2

Oh god gods sake ChibiM are you trying to get me to buy more Eneloops.

My main gripe with the EA4w was the interface which is why i like the D40A and LD41, now you show me this GRRRRrrrrrr

Yeah, that new EA41 is pretty sweet. They should have named it EA42 - meaning it’s the next version of the EA4 and it’s got XM-L2. I like how they’ve went with two physical buttons instead of the previous light’s problematic one button.

Unfortunately, I’m probably going to pass on getting an EA41 as I’ve already got my AA light requirements filled with the D40A (I already have D40A in CW and NW; EA4 in CW and NW as well; and an EA8 to boot).

EA41 as in EA4.1 perhaps? I like that Nitecore have built on the same winning design. I don’t find the original switch that confusing but I do like that the strobe is easily accessible in the new model.

you still need an EAX and a TK41! :stuck_out_tongue:

That EA4.1 or whatever it is called is NICE! Would like to get this but SolarStorm is coming out with a (4) AA light soon that has been really built up, and has more lumens and is cheaper from what I have been told. I’m waiting.

Is there anyone selling this version yet? I have been back and forth about the EA4 for so long that this looks like a great light.

Product was announced fairly recently. I don't expect them stateside for a couple weeks.

best guess on a price?

Should be the same as the original EA4 model.
