Aquacell, battery which needs to be filled with water before use...

Just have seen this

I guess it is complete garbage.

I wonder what kind of electrolyte they are using. Wouldn’t it leach into the water in the cup? Wouldn’t that be dangerous to handle? I wonder if it could be boosted (read: made more dangerous) by using another electrolyte instead of water.

Aquacell Technology

Water-activated battery

Probably more interesting than actually useful except in certain situations.

any idea of the capacity of these cells ? cann’t seems to find mention of that.

interesting - yes
practical use - maybe not
:zipper_mouth_face:

About 60ml.

:stuck_out_tongue:

That reminds me of this portable power device that used power "puck" fuel cells and was marketed to outdoorsy people that didn't math.

“NoPoPo” yo

Maybe in your last resort WW4 survival bunker.

nope my bunker has wind turbines / solar / micro hydro

This was reviewed on a Korean forum and

TL;DR (or TL; can’t read) was that it was crap. It has a very high internal resistance, wouldn’t even turn on flashlights, maybe a portable radio.

The wiki linked earlier (post 3) says low drain devices only, and around 1000mah.

Wiki also says it is basically a carbon zinc battery which sounds like minimal power available compared to other newer technologies. The oldest “dry cell” technology, dating back to circa 1900 , just in this case using totally dry electrolyte which is activated by the dip in water it sounds like.
