Ordered (10) Ultrafire Sk68's...

I'm really bummed...

I ordered 10 sk68's from a seller off eBay ($1.99 each + free S/H).

All 10 were DOA. .

I've previously ordered 5 Ultrafire lights from this seller, & all of them (including the cells) were good to go.

I tested one of the pill assemblies with a continuity test from my multimeter...

Nothing...

Now I'll have to jump through the paypal hoops & decipher the chingrish.

Let the games begin!

Some of these SK68’s were made to Only run on the higher voltage Lithium batteries.
They will not do anything with a regular AA.

Just seems strange all 10 are defective.
HTH

My initial thought was battery too. 10 duds seems way too coincidental to me.

Yeah, that's exactly what they want you to think. WAKE UP, SHEEPLE!!!11

Baah, you worry too much. :stuck_out_tongue:

Measuring from where to where, and on what setting? Transistors and diodes can't be checked with an ohmmeter.

For all we know you bought the MM from the same bloke.

However, given the issues, maybe the duds are response to your sig? Their way of making it clear, they know. Maybe they got to them, in transit, or worse, at the source? Is your source still alive? Have you checked?

/clears cookies, logs off.

"This LED is no good, meter shows open circuit in both directions!!" lol

I’d guess you got the variety that won’t work with less than 3v or so input.
Checked that?

Link to product?

Don't buy a lottery ticket today.

I’m just one more person chiming in to say that you need to explain how you “tested” these.

  1. multimeter settings and test points
  2. battery type / voltage you tried to operate the lights with

EDIT: also, maybe I could use a few sk68’s at that price. Link?

I was not aware of that. That is why I joined this forum.

I got readings from the pills in my Sk98's on my meter, so that's why I was initially perplexed.

I jumped each pill with a 18650...

Yep, they're strictly 14500/3.7 volt units.

I was a little bit perturbed by this, as I have a ton of Energizer AA rechargeables that I had planned on using in these, but that's not too big of a deal...

These lights had copious amounts of swarf inside them. Also the lenses weren't held in place on these (not sure if that's par for the course in the 68's?), so I permanently affixed them with a fine bead of epoxy. I took them apart, cleaned them thoroughly, & lubricated the threads & O-rings with silicone grease. Gave them some TLC...

The seller has revised the listing since my purchase. I came across the listing by happenstance while it was at $1.99 per unit, so I pounced. He/they revised it shortly thereafter. Now I'm wishing I'd have bought 20 of them...

I'm sure you all know about this, but these sellers like to constantly fluctuate their prices, so it's kind of luck of the draw.

I got (2) Sk98's, (4) 18650's, & chargers for $13.18 + free shipping from this seller. Currently, he charges $20.00 + $1.99 for shipping (each), for the same setups. I should have bought more.

Anyways, in regards to the sk68's, I've ordered some 14500's, & hopefully all will be well once they arrive.

Thanks for the link, and the update.

I’d be (a little) interested in seeing the driver on these if you felt like popping one out. They’re probably just press fit.

You're very welcome.

As per your request:

They are all 3 mode (high, low, strobe).

The strobe isn't near as disorienting as the strobe on my Sk98(s).

I haven't verified the emitter in these, but they're judiciously bright. As you can see, there is a thin press fit foil type reflector in these units. I'm not sure how to go about removing it, nor if I'd want to.

Those ultrafire 18650 cells are junk (poor performance [if they aren’t DOA], falsified capacities, etc). Combined with the generic chargers, could also be potentially be deadly.

You can buy 1 for US $2.99 or …
Waaaaait for it …….
You can get …
not 2 …
not 3 …
but 4 for the great price of ….

ONLY … US $19.99 :open_mouth: :~

I cannot see the postage as the seller does not post to Australia, and with math like that I think I am glad

Cheers David

well that was sucks :~

Oh, it gets even better than that...

I saw one listing that was for a Sk68, a single 14500, & a charger for $99.99 buy it now, plus $1.99 for shipping & handling.
