Starry light switch not water resistant, how do i take it apart to dry it?

I was working in a fiberglass/dusty environment and used my Convoy M1 and Starry light, i washed both (the starry light very carefully) and when i removed the batteries to recharge i noticed water got in the tail end. I don’t easily see a way to remove the switch, has anyone had success in getting it apart?

Have you tried putting the light in a closed bag with rice? or just leaving it open out in the sun for a few hours, that should dry it up

it just happened 30 mins ago, no sun yet though you could say i am trying to replicate the sun with my Convoy M1 pointing to the springs in the tail on high

JM's review has pictures of it half way down in the OP.

I think real sunlight will have a much larger IR component. This means that it will heat the thing up a lot more than the Convoy M1 will.

I have just examined mine. I did not disassemble the tail section - I only looked. It appears that the switch plate is installed from the back, most likely glued in place. It appears that a black plastic vanity plate is installed over top of that. EDIT: see MRsDNF’s link in the post above!

I wouldn’t be overly concerned about water, but you should displace any existing water. Rice is a good suggestion, but for best results you may want to use something to get the water out. Otherwise I think there could be corrosion. I’d consider alcohol, kerosene, WD-40, PB-Blaster, or DeoxIT. Those are not suggestions for you to use, but suggestions for you to consider using! I haven’t spent the time to figure out which is best in this scenario. After displacing the water I’d blow out or wipe off whatever I could of the displacing agent and then shove the thing in the bag of rice. … if I was concerned about it

thanks, i got it apart now and it can air dry

Did everything work out?

I only use alchahol to wipe down flashlights. It does a better job than water and evaporates immediately.

It dried out and still works perfectly, the alcohol wipes won’t remove all the fiberglass dust and other dirt from old construction.
