SOLD - HD2010 with an XP-L led.

SOLD

I just finished modding a Tangsfire HD2010 with an XP-L led on a Copper star and a NANJG driver with 14x7135 chips on it.

I did some embellishments in the form of polished areas, to make this light look a little different.

I had to make a custom centering ring, out of two rings, to get the led centered and to get a better height for the reflector.

I got a reading of 5.43 amps on High, with my wonderful Sony 26650 battery, off the tail end of the light.

I got a reading of 70000k lux at one meter.

The spot is smaller than an XM-L. The beam color is somewhat yellow. It was a V5, 2A, 5700k, but it looks like about 4000k.

Beam Shots, showing the unusual tint

It's really a very strange coloration. The oddest beam I have seen, since incandescent days. I have a feeling that some leds got mixed up and the wrong bins were sent to the dealer. Anyhow, it's sure not 5700k. More like 4000k.

It throws a little better/tighter beam than my HD2010 did with an XM-L2 in it.

The price is $55 USD Shipped CONUS. International, add $10.00

Payment is PayPal oldlumens(insert the @ sign here)gmail.com

First person posting they want it, followed by payment and a PM to me, with your full name and address, gets the light. It comes with an 18650 sleeve and lanyard.

Thanks

Nice!!!

So between a XP-G thrower with low lumens and a XM-L wide hotspot but buckets of light

interesting…and awesome as usual OL!

If I hadn't just bought a Supbeam K50 v2......

That tint looks beautiful.

Still for sale

Will this light work well with protected cells ? I am thinking the protection circuit would interfere . Thanks awesome build!

I would imagine it depends on the cell. I got 5.4 amps with my unprotected Sony 26650, but it’s a low resistance cell and gives me the best amp draws of anything I have. Same light with a Panasonic 18650 gives about 4.75 amps. Protected may be Very tight in this light. I have all unprotected, but one is a button top and it leaves a depression on the negative end from the spring. All the HD2010s I have done, were that way. Due to the Battery tube OAL, it is better for an unprotected cell.

I don’t know you do that polishing trick, keeping it in neat areas like you do, but it sure does look nice!

Mine like that, purchased from your gb, has an Luminus SBT-70 in it. The beam is impressive, even if my light doesn’t look nearly as sweet as yours!

And I, too, just bought a K50…monies are shot!

Buy up somebody, this is too nice looking a light to leave on here tempting us like it is…

Polishing? More like sanding off the Ano and then using finer and finer grades of paper. I use a sanding block and I tape off anything around the area with masking tape.

Anyhow, I figured there would be more interest, what with an XP-L led in it. It has a tighter beam than an XM-L and it's more intense, which means farther throw. I guess I was wrong, but the yellow color probably has something to do with it. I need to use a different camera and capture reality, since the photos I touched up are way too yellow. Oh well.

I have a XPL in my T10T and love the tint. Better than 219s IMO. I’d grab it but I am in the market for a drop in and a few motocross/jeep things so my money is “tied” up with those for a little.

To those who bought a K50 V2, I love mine. Have had it for a few months and obviously a little better than stock since Vinh PDTc’d it with his other magic

Updated the beam photos with more realistic ones.

I think there's a lot of interest, just a lot more empty wallets. We're three months into a group buy marathon. :tired:

I'm trying to figure out how to sneak it into the budget. :davie:

I’ll take them both.

Payment Sent (Unique Transaction ID # 50R02831 payment for both.
Thanks

Both?

Edit: Wow, didn't even get to see the other listing before it was sold.

XP-L die is exactly the same size as XM-L2, it's just on a smaller XP-size base. So any change in the spot is down to focusing, not the LED.

I thought the dome is different, though, squared off a bit. Mightn't that have an effect?

That would only make it worse. And the texturing on the dome does not help either. So OL did a very good focussing job on this one :-)

(is the dome still present ;-) , that could explain a lot)

Thank you very much

I disagree, as I have seen it with my own eyes. Reflector height was the same as I did with my XM-L2. XM-L2 cool white did 60something k lux, XP-L did 70something k lux. Just about exactly the same amperage. Both leds had the dome. I don’t de-dome as I have ruined every single one I have ever tried, so I don’t de-dome anything. Maybe the dome made a difference. XP-L beam was tighter than XM-L2. When I made the centering ring, I used a combination of an XP-G and the original XM-L ring for the XP-L, but I made the height/thickness of the two together, the same as the stock XM-L ring, which is what I used on the XM-L2.

I was going to do a couple more, but the lack of interest in XP-L tells me it's not worth it. Better off to just stick MT-G2 in everything, as that always seems to sell.
